Would the monitors allow it to be openly placed here? If not, then you choose and I will go along with it. I thought of this because so many times we have comments we reserve about our stay. It is (afterall) less than popular to complain about a vacation you just got done spending thousands of dolars on.
You lead me Charles Quote:

Can I be the first "bitcher"??? Ooo, Charles this was a great idea!
I have only been to LaCabana for the past 6 years. Before I start, may I say there are mostly GREAT things about LaCabana - the staff, the cleanliness, helpfulness and I personally like the hustle and bustle of a larger resort. I love they have a large computer area. I love their Happy Hours, and the pool and beach area are beautiful and well maintained. Fast check-in system. That said................... Dear LaCabana - PLEASE do something about your restaurants!! They stink! I am into cooking and I know that it is not hard to prepare delicious meals. It does not have to be expensive. What is so hard about having delicious food? Us timeshare owners would love to stay on the property and have dinner once in a while. (dont you notice how we flock to Dunkin Donuts????) Also - Please do something with your internet service in our rooms via TV. The service works once in a while or you get bumped off. There are no instructions in our rooms telling us how to even access it. I had to call the operator 3 times. Please do something with the short, heavier middle aged lady in the drug store/medicine shoppe. Not a pleasant person. Two years ago, I came off the Tranquilo with a bleeding toe from coral no less, and this lady was just locking up for break. She refused to let me just quickly buy some antiseptic. I had to sit and wait one hour for her to return, bleeding, infected toe and all. And finally the biggest problem - Morons who put their towels on the lounge chairs/pool tables/huts at 6am and then go back to sleep til noon! This has been discussed at length on the LaCabana bb. Someone had a suggestion of "butt in chair" to hold the table/hut. Or at least have security remove belongings of people who don't show up with a 2 hour grace period.Aaah................I feel so much better! Next? can i be next princess?? please please??
i am an owner at costa linda and adore it. i haven't found much wrong with the place at all except the check in nightmare. they used to set aside the owner's lounge and treat us royally by allowing us to sit in the airconditioning as we were checked in instead of in line with those who are renting. that stopped a year or two ago. it is an absolute nightmare. it starts your vacation off wrong. also, they installed wifi. it is wonderful. however, they need one extra antenna. it needs to go into the area to the right of the lobby. we in the outer rooms must go to the lobby to use our laptops. if i am paying for wifi i would like to lounge on my balcony to use it as those with the pool view can. i am also a renter at aruba phoenix. it is another place i adore. the beach is wonderful. the employees are wonderful. it is slightly isolated and peaceful. however, there are a few problems in the tower section. 1. the little tiny bugs in the kitchens. i know they will spray on request and spray weekly otherwise. they say everyone has them. costa linda doesn't and my friends who own in the low rise section of the timeshare don't. i absolutely hate refrigerated cheetoes, lol. yet, if i keep them on the counter, they tend to walk away. 2. the elevators! fix them! stop them from stopping. start them moving. need i say more? 3. their internet system. i don't mind high fees for slow internet, well yes i do, but more than that i hate one computer on premises in a tiny room where the mouse and keyboard don't like working and you run out of time cards so for 2 days last visit i was totally without internet and when i had it i almost wished i was without it because it frustrated me. i left with a card that still had money on it because i didn't want to fight the damned computer again. get with the times. wifi costs you less, they service it for you, and you make more money on it. ahhhhhh, i feel so much better now! who's next? |

Gonna love this thread!!!
Just stayed at LaCabana 2/19 to 2/26. I would like to do a little "bichin" myself. There are 3 sets of guests that stay at LaCabana every year week 8, which is the week I usually get to go in Feb. Every year I watch these "guests" go out at MIDNIGHT or before, to the tables with umbrellas (in front of their units), and stack up 2 sets each of 4 chairs and 4 lounges around "their" table. So add this up folks, that is 8 chairs and 8 lounges times 3. They use their towels or put shirts on back of the chairs, this year one group did something "NEW", they were so bold that they actually brought with them, terry covers for "their" lounge chairs that had their first names on them. Two mornings I went down to save us a spot. As there was only 2 of us, I would get up at 4 or so and go down with 2 towels to save us each a lounge with a table. There was only one table with umbrella with 2 lounges at it so I "marked our spot". Twice one of their group told the security guard at 8 AM to "tag" us as we marked "way too early" and "they needed extra chairs for that day". I know this because I had a conversation with this security guard that "tagged" us at 8:30 and he told me what was said. The next day I was out sitting in my lounge chair at 8 AM when he approached again. I had been watching him tag every single table that had no one at it, he however walked right past these 3 huge groups of saved spots with not a person in sight. I got up and asked him if I could speak with him again and I brought him back to the areas in question. I told him we saw these places being marked at midnight and he just said, "midnight, wow that's early to save." I asked him how come he didn't ever tag these particular groups, he just smiled a big smile at me, turned and walked away. We also saw groups of chairs and lounges saved and one person would be sitting there and when he saw the security guard making his rounds this guy would get out his cell phone and people would come running from all different directions to make sure they were'nt tagged. I may be overly suspicious here, but I suspect that these 3 groups slip this security guard cash every year and that is why they get away with it and are never "tagged". Some mornings they never showed up until 11. I think this is very unfair to the other timeshare owners and guests. When my husband and I were there for 2 weeks in Dec. we saw the same thing happen, but I must admit that some people were actually sitting out at 5 AM to make sure they were not "tagged". Having been at LaCabana week 8 three times before I expected this, but it was shocking to my sister-in-law. It was her first visit to Aruba. There, that's my "bichin" and I'm feeling better now. |

Having rented at the Ren suites and at Costa Linda, I can speak toward those resorts only. Both are less crowded than the Palm Beach magnets, so there really isn't any issues with chairs and palapas. In fact, I'm not sure why I'm posting here, because the closest thing to a complaint I have is an echo to Sherry's comments - at Costa Linda, the check-in process can be excruciatingly slow. We arrive on Friday, along with a bazillion others, and just have to accept that we'll be in line for up to 2 hours. UGH! At least the bar is right there...

This is all very constructive stuff. Son't stop yurbichin cause in the final analysis, I will take it (nameless) to management for them to have a cup of coffee with.
REASON? I have the firm belief that not one single manager or resort director wakes up in the morning with the full intent to have his guests or members upset. What they need is repeated and honest feedback. Wouldn't you guys agree? charles |

i personally am in complete agreement with you charles. i know that management at aruba phoenix tried very hard to make me happy with the internet problem and the rest. they are good people. there is no doubt in my mind that if there is a way they will correct it. however, i am only one person so if we get all of the problems at a resort mentioned by more than one person it makes a stronger impression.
people, charles is right. this is constructive. if you don't have something big to add, add something little. come in and agree or disagree. input like this can make big changes if we stay together. Quote:

Charles, I totally agree with constructive criticism, that is why after my recent trip, 2/19/06-2/26/06 when I arrived home I went to the LaCabana website and "aired my criticism" to them in the form they provide on-line. I was very tactful. I did the same thing after spending 2 weeks there in Dec. 2005.
This is the ONLY criticism I have ever had with my stays on Aruba, and the reason I posted it is because I am of the old school, "what's fair for one is fair for all", of course there is also another old school saying, "rules are made to be broken." |
