Default Blackjack conditions?

Any info on the blackjack games and rules offered in Aruba casinos, especially the Renaissance, would be greatly appreciated. #decks, DAS, surrender, minimum bets, etc. Thanks!

We are going to Aruba for the first time, and I'm finding a lot of good info in these bulletin boards, but nothing so far on BJ. I'm sure I'll have some more questions after finishing my reading ;-)

The one thing that surprised (annoyed?) me about BJ at the Aruban casinos is that the dealer will deal all cards, including 'hits', before showing his 'up' card.

agreed, that is pretty strange... is this an Aruba standard or merely the policy of a particular venue or two?

i forgot about that...we have found that in more than one island destination. it certainly does change the game.

So, what you guys are saying is that you get two cards, say a 10 and a 6 (typical ;-) and you have to decide to hit or stand without seeing either of the two dealer cards? That's an impossible game to play, if true.

What casinos in Aruba do that? I have played at Royal Cabana, Alhambra and Crystal and never seen that (and hope I never do! - geesh, I have enough trouble winning when they DO show their card!).

Smile Re: Blackjack conditions?

The house edge is increased a full 10% in this game. Actualy the dealer does not take his second card until all players have completed their action and at the tables I have played at, the dealer did turn his first card up. The problem lies with the fact that taking his second card after all the action is over, he must take at least 2 cards to bust. This game is played at many casinos in the caribbean and on some cruise ships. You have to be totaly crazy to sit at one of these tables. Run as fast as you can for the door.

It is not played this way in all of the casinos there, just a few. I have never seen it dealt that way in the states. No one would play it in Vegas, they would just go next door.

I agree Bob - it definitely increases the casino's odds, but I simply can't make myself run for the door . Contrary to a previous post, I know they play that way at the seaport (and Crystal?) casinos, and I believe they also deal that way at the Alhambra. It certainly surprised the heck out of me...then I busted.
