Default Eagle Beach Pizza?

Any suggestions for a place for pizza-pref. walking distance from Manchebo/Bucuti area-
Looking for cheese pizza for teens on Good Friday-day of arrival. We have reservations at Le Dome and Chalet Suisse later in the week.
Also looking for suggestions re: other good restaurants Eagle Beach area for the remainder of the week.

We just had dinner at the Rio steak house near the high rise hotels it was fantastic. I suggest reservations for a late dinner but we ate at around 6 pm and it was not crowded yet. Steak was tender and cooked to perfection and not outragously priced.

Alvin, when are you going? There is a new pizza place that is due to open at Costa Linda some time in March. It's going to be located in a building in the parking lot, close to Bucuti. It would be a quick walk (less that 5 minutes) from either the Bucuti or Manchebo lobbies.

Don't limit yourself to restaurants in the Eagle Beach area for the rest of your stay. You can take the bus or cabs to a lot of great restaurants that are a short ride away.

Debbie... so glad to hear that. We stopped there one night after having dinner elsewhere just to look at the menu. People coming out said it was delicious, but there just weren't enough nights to try it. Will look forward to eating there next year though.. Thanks for the report.

Sherry, the new pizza place is going to open in the old Accounting office at Costa Linda. With that location they hope to get business from Casa del Mar, Aruba Beach Club, Manchebo, and Bucuti, in addition to Costa Linda.

It is a leased operation. The owner is from Chicago and is the person who started Tomato Charlie's. After selling it, he decided to get back in the business. He is supposed to have some inside seating, and they're going to create a patio area around it for outside seating. The pizza is supposed to be very good. We got this information when we were there last November/December.

I don't know if the Turtle's Nest will continue to sell pizza. They still had it on the menu last December, but it wasn't prominently featured. My guess is that once the Turtle's Nest kitchen is redone, they make phase it out. They probably won't want to take up space with a pizza oven if there is another pizza place on site.

I'm always very reluctant to try pizza outside of the Tri-State area. I am originally from NY and hard to please!!! Had the pizza one day at LaCabana and thought it was pretty good! I believe there's a place that delivers...maybe Little Ceasers or Pizza Hut...one of those chains. I have a hard time with Sbarro's... The family is from my hometown on L.I....There kids all went to my school, but much after me. Boy are they rich rich rich. Obviously they started out with a few shops and now are EVERYWHERE! To be totally honest...Don't think their pizza is very good...MY OPINION!

Elisabeth - You are right! The pizza definitely went downhill at Sbarros, especially here in NY. The pasta bar is worse! Where are they from?

Dix Hills (where I grew up, but it wasn't called Dix Hills when my parents bought in 1964...they just lucked out when the rich people started moving in around them)

You probably lived near my aunt on Deer Park Rd. When she moved in, it was called Commack and then they annexed her whole neighborhood to Dix Hills. Great for property values! I remember as a child, thinking it was "country" out there!

It is a small world Elisabeth and Corrine, I have two cousins that grew up in Deer Park. I remember spending a lot of time there when I was a kid, and still think of those times fondly.

Speaking of pizza, one of my fondest memories was my older cousin Barbara teaching me that the left over pizza from Babylon pizza was so much better the next morning for breakfast!

A new pizza place opened up in Tanki Lennart and it is called "Pizza One". They deliver and the pizza was very good. They have flyers at the front desk of many resorts in the Eagle Beach area.

We were West of Deer Park Ave. off exit 50 (Bagatelle Rd.) kinda bordering Melville and Wyandanch. Yes it was quite country back then...lots of farms (food not animals). But now its all developments. I hated going out to visit, it was always so conjested. Mom sold her house and moved her to NJ to be near me around 3 years ago. The only thing I miss is going to visit my Dad at Pine Lawn Cemetary...but I talk to him everywhere and anywhere...I just think its so peaceful and nice there!

We had a pizza place in town (I actually think it was Wheatley Heights) called Little Joes...UMMMMM. I wonder if its still there?

I'm definately gonna try Tomato Charlies next trip to Aruba. People rave about it on the BB's and think its worth trying (maybe for lunch).

Carol: One of my first jobs was in a Bakery in Babylon, I was 16, had to be there at the crack of dawn for the Sunday church crowd...way too early for a 16 year old!!!

here we go off the subject again...oh well!

I think I meant Deer Park Ave! She lived up near Pilgrim State Hospital. That awful place is still there - deserted. I remember being terrified of it as a child! I think they are planning a housing development there.

Let me know how Tomato Charlies was when you go. We always use the one in LaCabana.

I think I am the exception with Tomato Charlie's, I thought it was average at best. But pizza isn't my favorite so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

OMG me too...That place was scary. I can't believe its still there. I will definately let you know how TC's is. Like I said I thought LaCabana's was pretty good. We ate it last November when we brought the kids. As soon as my husband was walking away with the pies a terrential(sp) down pour started and we all just ran under the pool bar and they let us eat it there, with the kids too (I usually don't like the kids sitting at a bar). Ah heck they got more money for the extra beers we ended up drinking also (adults of course). That was a night with the crafts around the pool and I thought some of them were going to get electricuted...its was wild! There was no warning...so everyone was scurrying like mad. I think we even treated the Bartenders to our leftovers!

Nanc-

I know different people have said different things about Tomato Charlies. Elisabeth and I are from the same area originally so I figure her taste will be similar to mine.

Elisaberth - Did you hear they are talking about putting a HUGE mall in Deer Park. ANother Tanger OUtlet. People in the neighborhoods are protesting like crazy. The traffic now is bad enough. Carol - do you know anything about it?

I haven't been back to Deer Park in years. One cousin lives in Stony Brook now, but I haven't been to her house in probably 10 years. We tend to see each other at other locations.

The other cousin lives in East Setauket, and that's usually where I go. She also bought a house in West Hampton recently, and the next road trip I have planned is to check out the "vacation" house. It's easy for me to visit her since I take the Orient Point ferry to go to the West Hampton house, or the ferry from Bridgeport to visit her in East Setauket since the Port Jeff ferry terminal is only about 5 minutes from her house. I haven't been on the LIEE in years, and don't miss it!

I liked Tomato Charlie's. However, I've only had two pizzas from there, so I can say it's consistently good. But, I did love their Italian salad. I would go just to get the Italian salad.
