Default KooKoo Kunuku Bus

I wanted to hear some input from others about this. I did the KKBus once with another couple....we had Gerla ("Hella") as our driver and it made for a wild and crazy trip. I was surprized at the "out of the way" bars we went to.....I was surprized these bars were opened just for the bus tour groups.....I found it an interesting way to see parts of the town that you may not usually wander thru in the evening....I had a fabulous meal at the place you go for dinner (which, where is that place and what's it called?) Did you think it was totally worth it? Do you think it is more of a couples thing? Wondering if two ladies (no spouses) would have a good time.....it seemed safe enough. Anyone got any stories?

Mermaid...absolutely go as two "single" women..can't think of anything that would be more fun with no hassles! Dinner, drinks and transportation, not to mention good company and possible new friendships, laughter, and more laughter. And I think the safety is also pretty insured. As far as the dinner locations, I read the website, and they now say they go to 2 different places for dinner...the one we went to both times we went was the Minister of somethings home...Mr Lee. Can't remember what the other one is, so maybe you can go check their website and check it out. When are you going to the island and planning on doing this? We have reservations for the 27th of Sept...so if you are going then, maybe we'll see you. Hope this helps in your decision...oh, and have fun if you do decide to go...

I was looking into doing either this or the tattoo party cruise. just trying to convince my mother to go with me. She isn't much of a drinker so she feels it will be wasted money lol would love to hear your review when you come back.

I Love Aruba Re: KooKoo Kunuku Bus

Nikki....going to the bars via the KooKu Bus is fun, and some people "wild out" and have fun, dancing on the bars (in one place we went to)....or just having a beer and watching the fun....its up to you to make it a good time and participate, or just enjoy being part of a group that is having fun....nobody forces drinks on you or anything, and who cares if you are drinking club soda or alchohol, ya know? That was my experience anyway. I wasn't looking to get "sick" drunk, but I had about 2 beers in each place, and maybe at the end there I had a vodka......it was fun. The Boat trip looks wild with the people swinging off the rope and all....drinking on a boat is a 50/50 venture in my opinion......seasick vs scenic enjoyment......either trip can be enjoyed without drinking I'm sure. There is a mellow-er sunset cruise by Pelican Tours...I enjoyed it. You catch that boat right on the beach by the Playa Linda and Holiday Inn hotels if I remember correctly. Not a big Pirate style ship like the other one you mentioned.

Do you think its essential to reserve early? I am not sure my travel friend wants to make a plan in advance since we are more "winging" it. I believe in "what is suppose to be, will be"....

Did the Kukoo Kunukoo on the 27th of Sept. Had an absolute blast. And this was our third time on it. As far as making reservations in advance..I always do, so I can't tell you otherwise. However, a couple on our bus called that morning and got on...but there really wasn't a seat for the guy, but some people squeezed and made room for him. All I know is our bus was completely filled by just the people from our timeshare. Hope that helps.

Who was your driver?? And also how was the dining experience? Was it at a different place than the "mansion" place??

We were on Victor and Big Daddy's bus. They were fun. The dining experience was fine...not gourmet(why doesn't that look right) or anything...but enough to soak up the alcohol.

I actually thought our food was gourmet....ish. Really very good. I can't say I remember what it was, but I remember thinking it was much, much nicer than I expected, and delicious. We went to that mansion house......they served a whole lot of people at once, it was like a big wedding reception......also, cocoanuts were falling out of trees onto the canopy once in awhile.....that was a little daunting.

I also think the food is good...rice and chicken and beef with a mixed veggie. Oh and caesar salad. Oh, and yea we were at the mansion...which we came to find out is still occupied by members of the family of Mr. Lee.

I have wanted to do the KK Bus for years, but our friends & my DH are not interested AT ALL. We'll be going in 2009 (for at least 4 weeks, I hope) & I'm considering going "solo" on the KK Bus. I'm not a "Spring Chicken" by any stretch of the imagination, but I still enjoy a good time when "spirits" are involved.

Anyone have recommendations or past experiences on the KK Bus unaccompanied by spouse or friends?

Hi Manzanita...I have been on that KooKoo bus with another couple and spouse. Its my opinion that if you don't mind being in a party atmosphere "solo" you should have a fine time. It seems like most people go as couples or groups.....If you can have fun with a group of couples, I say go for it. Not to say that someone solo isn't also going along that night....that may or may not matter to you. Its a fun night out, I don't think it really matters if you are with anyone, you are visiting various bars and being led into activity in most cases by the tour guides when you are in there. It was fun, loud, and a very-very nice dinner also. I say go for it!

I'm a "people person" & can have a good time in just about any situation. I might just give the KK Bus a shot on our next trip to Aruba.
