Cool where is the night life? (good bars, clubs, or happy hr spots)

I'll be 30 going on 25 when I get to Aruba on 7/16/05. I'm staying for a week and going alone. Can people give me info in regards to what bars/clubs/happy hr spots are good and what nights/days they are good....

Reading this BB has actually given me a few good ideas. Thanks, I've heard that Carlos & Charlie's is good, Black Hog Salon BQ, and the Kakuu Party Bus that I'm going to make reservations for... Any other good places to go at night or happy hour that you may know of ????

Believe it or not, the Divi Divi's beach bar is normally hopping at night. You could always take a walk there or take the shuttle.

Actually, a friend of mine met his new wife at the Divi Divi when he was down there with friends after his first wife died.

How aboutMambo Jambos-also if you read trip report from Andrew S. who stayed at the Amsterdam Manor I think he had some suggestions for clubs that he enjoyed and he is in your age group. His trip report is in the new trip report section.Have a great time.

I'd try Moomba's on Sunday night too ! (second Elaine on that!) Great reggae music, and I think they have a all you can eat bbq too, we had already eaten and just went for drinks and to listen to music, it seemed to be getting quite busy around 10 pm when we left-lots of younger people (twenties mostly I'd say)

There is a place downtown by the Ren that had a lot of people dancing that had us watching - but they weren't young, they were mature and had skills. Salsa or samba or whatever, it was really $exy and alluring...

Sorry this is off the subject, but can anyone give me an idea of how much a cab ride is from Dutch Village area to downtown. Also, how many miles it is? I'm tring to decide wheather or not renting a car is worth it or not...

I would take a bus. Like $1.30 one way, $2. round trip. Bus stop is close to the Dutch Village. If you are going out to party, take a bus up and taxi back if after midnight. I don't really think you need a car if you are going only from the hotel to town.

Hi there,
I saw that some of you mentioned to Tony a place close to the Ren where they played and danced salsa and had mature people. Where is this place? and what days is it happening?
Are there any other place similar with dancing. We are in our mid to late 30's.
Anu special events happening on the week of the 24th of July? We will be staying for a week. What about cover charges at this places? Is it worth to buy the aruba card ? We would probably just sign up for one or 2 of the tours. Maybe the ABC jeep tour that everybody is recomending? Between the banana bus and the other one which one do you recomend? Does the bus run all night?
Is it safe to take the bus let's say a 2am? We will be staying at the Holiday Inn.
You mentioned to Tony Momba's on sunday? How to get there from the Holiday Inn and at what time is it happening? Is there a cover charge or happy hour? Do you know of any other hot spots?

Yikes this is alot of questions! That's OK, that's what we are here for. I can help on some stuff.
I also recommend Moombas on Sunday nights. I believe it is walkable from the HI, should be next to it. Maybe someone can give you exact directions. Also, the ABC Jeep TOur and Kukunu Bus. Have never done the banana bus. Enjoyed the Kukunu bus very much - lots of fun!
I also think the bus stops running at midnight. I would take the bus to where you are going at night and cab it back.
Check out www.visitaruba.com and click on the box on the top right. You can see for yourself if the Aruba Plus Card is worth it for you. I think it is. Have used it every year on restaurants, car rental, snorkeling and Let's Go Latin Show.
