Hi Saskia
We also considered spending a few days at Manchebo with our two small children, but decided against it. Our kids are younger (1 and 4) so your situation may be different. Our primary resons for skipping Manchebo are that the rooms and pool are on the small side. We decided to get a timeshare instead and we were very happy with our chooice: Costa Linda. One thing to consider is that if you stay at a hotel you will probably have to get two rooms. I have heard only wonderful things about Manchebo and if were just my husband and me I think we would stay there. We like having more space (and a kitchen) when traveling with the kids. Stefa |

I agree.... Manchebo is not "kid friendly." Another downside is that the walk to the ocean, because of the vast beach in front of Manchebo, is not conducive for parents with small children who need supervision (the kids, I mean
).... I get tired just thinking of trudging back and forth!

I have a timeshare at Casa Del Mar which is next to Manchebo. We always use the beach between Manchebo and Aruba Beach Club since it's not as crowded as the hotels and it's a huge beach with lots of huts.
As far as things for kids, there is really not much for little ones at either Manchebo, Aruba Beach Club or Casa Del Mar. I am going in August with my 22 month old and I am wondering how she will do. ABC does have a kiddie pool and and a few pieces of playground equipment, but it sounds like I will have to check out La Cabana. Costa Linda is also next to Manchebo and it seems to have more things for all ages. I have to say the best beach is definately over by Manchebo and not by the High rises. You also have lots of nice waves, unlike the high rise area where the water seems to be more calm but you also get a lot of plastic cups in the water from all of the tourists and gas from the boats. If you want activity just outside of your hotel the high rise area is nice. You can walk along and get ice cream, pizza, do some shopping etc.. There are sidewalks, both in front of the hotel by the shops and food areas and also along the beach connecting all of the hotels along the water. I know I have given a lot of info, but I get excited when I think about Aruba. I just love it!!! |
