Aruba Grand Closing....
Not sure if this should be here or under timeshare news so I will make it brief.
The Aruba Grand which is now Riu Aruba Grand will be closing for 2 yrs. for major renovations. No closing date has been set- most likely in May.

It does have timeshares which is a huge problem to owners right now. I have a copy of the letter that was sent to owners and Riu's "adequate" offering during the 2 years is far from adequate.

During the 2 years that the Grand is closed for renovations they either have the option to accumulate their weeks ("bank" them) or they can use the Riu Resort in the Dominican Republic. Either way, they do not get the option of staying in Aruba for those 2 years which is why they bought a timeshare at the Grand in the first place.
My opinion (for what it's worth) - I think they should either put them up somewhere else in Aruba or let them choose ANY Riu Resort - not just the ones in the D.R.

I thought in order to bank Interval had to be able to use the weeks which in this case they can't.
I would bank them if I could and then put in a request for Aruba. If you have info on this I would appreciate it.
