Default Cheap Eats? Low-rise area or others?

Just booked the last minute trip for Saturday and I haven't been to Aruba since 2004 so now I'm trying to figure out where the best value dinners can be found.

We'll be staying at the Divi Dutch Village (right by the Tam). Are there any reasonable restaurants that you'd recommend for dinner? It would be nice to walk to them but we're also open to hopping on the bus to go downtown or to Palm Beach.

I remember liking the French Steakhouse...do they still do the 4 course (i think!) special?

I am considering getting the Visit Aruba Plus card as I have for past visits.

Thanks for any suggestions you can offer! Kelley =)

The Promenade is now located in the shopping/business center(Sun center?) just across from the traffic lights at the corner. French Steakhouse still there. The restaurant at Aruba Beach Club is good and Matthews(Seagull/Gondola) at Casa Del Mar is good. All are well within walking distance. Ling and son grocery is just behind the Sun center also in walking distance.

Thank you Arubabob! How long a walk would you say it is to Aruba Beach Club? ABC is where I've always stayed. If facing the ocean would I walk right or left?

Many thanks!

kelly, you are so lucky!

let's see, casa tua, charlies pizza, pizza bob, salt and pepper, smokey joe's, and iguana joe's...that should start you off with cheap eats that aren't junk food.

here's the 5 course menu from french steak house followed by their standard menu.

If you are facing the ocean you go to your right, north. It is less than a mile to ABC/Casa Del Mar. There is a golf cart shuttle that will take you from the Divi properties to the Alhambra casino which is right in front of ABC. This reminds me that the sandwhich place at Alhambra is good and there is a Dunkin Donuts and Subway next to the casino.
You walk the other direction a couple of blocks to get to Promenade and Lings. You can see them from the road in front of Dutch Village.

I Love Aruba Re: Cheap Eats? Low-rise area or others?

>>>> "It would be nice to walk to them"
----- Here are 2 you can ride to free. The Divi and the Alhambra Casino provide free golf type rides between the resorts in that area.
Just tell the cart driver you want to go to:
1. Pizza Bob's
2. Aruba Beach Club - There restaurant is right on the water. At night
you can also order from the lunch menu for a very reasonable meal.
>>>> "5 course menu from french steak house followed by their standard menu."
----- Sometimes they offer a early bird special(3 course) at a great price. Call them to see if they are offering it and the hours. Can ride there also on the golf cart.
>>>> "there is a Dunkin Donuts and Subway next to the casino."
----- Also a bagel shop. Not open at nights. Can't remember their hours.

Great suggestion TomFrederick!! Thank you for letting me know about the golf cart. I live in Maryland too and am in Frederick frequently for work. Thanks again!
