I Love Aruba Coecoei

Hi,

Just wondering, does anyone know what coecoei is? And can it be purchased anywhere, or is there a sub? Wanting to make some Aruba drinks for the family before we go.

Thank you in advance

One Happy Island Re: Coecoei

Hi-
I hope this helps. We are leaving for Aruba in 7 days.

With a recipe that is centuries old, a local Aruban liquor, “coecoei” was first made by Indian tribes. It has a distinctive red color, derived from one of its prime ingredients—the sap from the “kukwisa” or agave plant, which is mixed with rum and cane sugar. Coecoei is often used today in the creation of island cocktails, including the Aruba Sunset which also employs Ponche Crème, Aruba’s own potent eggnog mixture.

Default Re: Coecoei

No I don't but my wife and I are going there a week from Sunday and I will see what I can find out and let you know when I return. Perhaps I can get some information or better yet purchase some Coecoei and send it to you. I will be sure to post my findings when I return.

HI Brian,

That would be great, thank you in advance. As I said we are flying out on Thanksgiving Day, and are having Thanksgiving Dinner, the sunday before we leave and want to serve Aruban drinks.
