Default From Our Home To Yours

A kid looks at a Christmas tree and sees pretty reflections. The lights sparkle and the adorning balls reflect the lights that were put there during a family get-together. That child has his Christmas reflection and lives in wonderment.

The parent notices the child looking at the tree and reflects himself. He thinks about life. He thinks about the efforts involved in getting his family to where it is now and he is gratefull to be sitting in his chair and knowing that his love for his child is endless.

A man walks outside the house and sees the father and child and reflects on how this christmas will be a lean one. His tree is not bountiful and his luck is not what it should have been - yet he looks at the child and it is a gift. For that momment - this child - unknowingly - fills the christmas basket of the passerby with his childish wonderment and reflection - This year - it will be more than enough.

this is a beautiful time of the year for most western faiths. it seems at this time of year we all have something in common. love for each other and a dislike of shopping and crowds, lol.

to all of you from murray and i, happy holidays. maybe one year we can actually carry on the spirit of love and warmth for the other 360 or so days. let us hope this is the year we do it.

Kevin, YOU went to a MALL???? Let me guess, did you maybe hit a "Victoria's Secret" store? A "little" something special for Loren????? Or I mean, for you to "see" Loren in????? Briefly???!!!!!!!!!!!
I am done, done, done. I am going to go into Athens this morning to hit the liquor store to pick up some Vodka so Paul and I can have a Bloody Mary or two "before" the gang arrives here. Might even make that a "Mary and the Boys" since it is such a special day.
I know it sounds strange that I have to make a trip into Athens for Vodka, but we live in a "dry" county, we can only buy beer and wine here. While at the liquor store will probably run into those old folks here in town that always vote "NO" to selling booze here. Go figure.
Whatever it is you picked out for the wife, I am sure she will love it just because "you" went to that Mall and bought her a gift.
I am picking on you, Paul does NO shopping at all. His gift to me is our annual Dec. trip to Aruba, and he buys my plane ticket for my Feb. trip, also to Aruba, that is my Valentine's gift,
and I can live with that!!!!!!
In all truth, I don't need a "gift", Paul is my gift.

Thanks PG, for knowing how hard it is for a man to go to the mall, especially when he's not being dragged there by his wife, and even more especially at this time of year - I must really love Loren (I do!!).

It wasn't from Victoria's Secret, not that she isn't fit to be a model for them, but something much smaller and sparklier...the bad news is that I just talked to her, and once she gets off work today we have to go to the mall (she doesn't know I went yesterday). Two days in a row, including the day before Xmas Eve?? This time, it will be while being dragged there by my wife...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Oh, man! Condolences, my friend. Of course, you can't let on that you've already been to the mall once. You'll just have to go again and pretend that it's the first time. Keep the faith and keep your polka face!!

Unhappy Re: From Our Home To Yours

I was one of the lucky ones... my husband loved to shop!! As I've said before, unless I need something, I don't go shopping. He'd drive me nuts in the stores.... as I sped along.

His shopping for Xmas was all done on Xmas Eve Day with all the other men... and, he'd find some really great sales! I would give him a list with sizes and colors and off he went. It never failed to amaze me that after being married for a gazillion years, most things he bought I didn't like!! Jewelry was a very sore subject... I don't think that I kept one thing he picked out by himself... Our jeweler was smart enough to know that I'd be returning, exchange in hand!! He'd pick dainty... I liked chunky!

The funniest Xmas ever was when I wanted a new vacuum. (okay, so I'm a-n-a-l) He waited for all our company to leave and out he came with this huge box, but I knew by the shape of the box that that wasn't my vacuum!!! I opened it up and it was a full length WHITE mink coat.. As he said... I looked at him with that "what the (word that would be deleted) is this?" The coat went back for a black one, and from that point on I got no more coats OR jewelry!!! lol

Ooooh, Elaine! Maybe I'll ask for a vaccuum next year! I know what you mean about the white - I inherited a cream mink from my favorite aunt. While I loved her dearly, the coat is real "frou-frou" if you know what I mean. Now, a black one...........................
I bet you miss him more than ever at this time of year..............
Are you spending Sunday night with Marnie?

I used to work at Macys in the fine jewelry department. I'd laugh at the men on Christmas Eve- the most frequent words were "I'll take it!".

Kevin - We know you're poker face isn't the best - try not to let on! You are a good sport!

Corrine - quite honestly, the holiday season can't be over fast enough for me. I think that most of us who have lost loved ones, feel a certain sense of sadness at this time of year. I simply use different coping methods and get by and knowing that Aruba's coming up makes me very happy...

Sunday.... haven't even thought about that yet! Since Bob was not of the Jewish faith, we did both holidays, and Xmas was the bigger one.

Maybe this year Santa will bring me a surprise.... hmmmmmmmmm.... wonder if that white knight will make it!!!!
