Your attempts at being respectful are appreciated

While there isn't a 'red light district' so to speak, there are certainly areas and places where one can indulge in a not-so-family environment. If your 'buddy' wants more details, they can be found in the back pages of some of the Aruba daily papers...

Some of the spots are "in" some of the bars. They are not allowed on the streets.

ok bigman (sorry, just can't bring myself to call you cutie if i haven't seen you, lol) the queen is quite pleased with your considerate way of asking so i will answer more boldly than my counterparts did.

there is a true legal red light district in san nicholas. they have strict rules and regulations. some are, no soliciting on the streets. if you wonder about elaine, we had a story thread going where she and several of us were considering opening our on 'house'. obviously fiction...ok, well maybe not so obvious, lol.

if you want your 'friend' to read about any of the real district link him to the aruba today newspaper. http://www.arubatoday.com/
he will need acrobat reader which is a free download.

the queen's only request, if your friend goes there... tell him to be careful and protect himself.

did i really write this post?????

Wink Re: San Nicholas & the red light district???

Amen Nick !!!!

Sherry a "Legal Red Light District" in San Nicolas, news to me and I lived in Aruba for 6 years......legal being the operant word here. Although there is an area in San Nicolas where Venezuelan and Colombian women frequent and offer their services, I have never hear it is a LEGAL area. My Aruban husband always told me it was tolerated by the police as long as the girls stayed in the bars, but that it was only tolerated and not a legal occupation by any means......

And to the friend who is interested, far from another urban legend that constantly circulates on some BB's, these girls are NOT gov't checked medically on a weekly basis and free of disease. As far as San Nicolas is concerned at night and as a tourist and by one's self it isn't the safest of areas on the island....johns routinely have been robbed there by the girls and their pimps.....so tell your friend to tread carefully in a country he knows next to nothing about !!!! And like Nick pointed out why would you want to ruin a vacation putting yourself and your health in jeopardy.

P.S. And thank you for asking in the manner that you did, not eveyone is so respectful of females on this BB......hopefully my reponse was as respectful and in it's purest form....helpful !

Some things are necessary regardless of the time!

Now you decide if I mean Elisa looking for a drink at 10:30, or the ladies and the cars...

Bigman: If you're going to the AC party you (I mean your skin-colored, phallic "friend") will find more of the same ladies, except they're not legal. Stack up on raincoats, thick ones.

Very dangerous. Do not go! If you do go with a local who knows the language. Also suggest carrying an empty beer bottle with you as the locals do.

P.S. Don't ask why I know!

There definitely are bars in San Nicolaas where it can be found. For the last four years I've run into a group of six or so older gentleman who come down the same time each year, the make-up of the group has changed from year to year but there is a core group of three guys who come all of the time. They stay are all retired and seem to be fairly well off and told me they've been coming down for over ten years together. One of them comes to Aruba for a total of 12-16 weeks split between three trips. They all "spend" their nights in San Nicholaas and they have regular "girls", who know exactly when they arrive on island. From these guys I've learned it's not very hard to find "adult" companionship, including girls in tourist bars that you would never pick out as working girls.

They've tried for years to get me to hang out with them, but I come down with my wife and that would be disrespectful, plus dealing with working girls is not something I'd want to do.

Now I can see that that actually doesn't matter!

My last night in Aruba, while waiting on my niece and her friend to have nails done (long story) went to Mambo jambo's for a drink $5 a pop. Guess what.. the US Marines had landed.. so I start telling them where to find pretty girls, fun bars (they were only out for a few hours Friday night and no drinking). I told them they should try Charlies in San Nicholas and they said that it was off limits to them. for the very subject in this thread. I directed them to the high rises for happy hour, amsterdam manner for the 2 for 1 and watched them all devour cheesburgers, fries, cheese sticks. These were some hungry guys!! I do love marines!!

Too bad my niece never got to meet them.
