Default Venezuela as seen from Aruba

Today's video on the blog shows Venezuela as seen from Savaneta Beach in Aruba. On clear days you can see Punto Fijo but not Chavez.

I only saw Venezuela once while living in there... Pretty amazing!

A view I've seen many (literally 1000's) of times but never get tired of. The mountain is Santa Ana and it rises approximately 1/2 mile above sea level. It is in the interior of the Paraguana Peninsula, about 20 - 25 miles inland, or about 35 - 40 miles from the southeastern tip of Aruba.

Charlie,

Thanks for that info. I always wanted to know the name of that mountain. Plus, I didn't realize it was that far inland. It's got to be quite a peak. Have to get over there some day, maybe in a small plane. That would be a blast.

Bon dia!

Most of the Paraguana Peninsula is a National Park. I think it's called Falcon Nat'l Park. It's climate, terrain, flora and fauna are similar to the ABC's (there are divi divi trees on the peninsula) and they say that you can see Aruba from the top of Santa Ana (which only seems fair).

Venezuela is an amazing country; it's too bad that the political situation there is so hostile to Americans.
