Just received an e-mail from a friend in N.J. He just purchased his tickets for Aruba going in Dec. to his time share. Leaving on US Air from Philly and purchased through the web $301.35 pp rt. They made arrangements to stay over night the night before for $65.00 and will leave his car parked there. They will take him to the airport and pick him up when he returns. What a deal.

Do you know where your friends are staying in Philly for $65.00. I got a $289.35 air fare for January and I would like to stay overnight also.

We also live in NJ and fly out of Philly all the time to Aruba, we are a little over 1 hour from both Newark and Philly but Philly is easier to get to and nicer in my opinion. We usually go the night before and stay in Essington. Its only 5 miles from the airport. There is a strip of Hotel/Motels. Comfort Inn, Ramada, Holiday Inn, etc. I always choose one with FREE Parking. So for bet. $69-89.00 for the night we get to keep our car there for the whole week. I've always felt it was safe. They shuttle you to and from the airport for free also. I've gone on my search and searched for Philadelphia Airport Hotels and they list them according to distance from. Just look for ones that say STAY AND PARK something like that.

My husband and I stayed in Philly the night before our flight to Mexico the first week of June. I booked through www.priceline.com and got the Airport Hilton for $59.90 including taxes and fees; my actual bid price was $47. My trick was not to accept anything less than a 3* b/c the Hilton is the only report 3* at this point and the Hilton included parking for up to 14 days which worked out great.

Liz I received this e-mail today.In Phildelphia we are staying at Microtel Inn and Suites,8840 Tinicum Blvd. Phil,Pa. telephone # (215)4920700. Approx. 1/2 mile from the airport. They are off exit 14. They have a free shuttle service to the airport and they indicated we can leave our car there free of charge for the week we will be gone. We are paying $64.00/night. Thanks for the info on hotels near Philly airport. I won't book anything yet as I got another 6 months to go. (oh my, that's so long to wait for Aruba).

Alas.... I've been checking US Air website for this fare since about the 20th of June (for December travel) and and it's gone up substantially. Average $700 pp rt.

We live in Ohio where the fares are running around $800-$900 pp rt right now. Last year we drove to Chicago-Midway and flew ATA, non-stop for about $450 each. I just purchased my airfare this week & got about the same deal. ATA flies to Aruba on Saturdays only & since our timeshare is Sunday to Sunday we spend Saturday night with friends so it works out.

Gayle - March is not that far away, so I would start checking now for air. US Air was the best fare I found last year.

If you can leave on Wed., Thur. you will (almost always) find a better fare.

That's US AIR. We don't care which airline but we definitely want non-stop. We go from March 4-11. Also we leave Philly 7:30a.m. and don't leave Aruba to come home til 5:20p.m. Those are times we like.

I'm leaving February 4th and returning the 25th - Saturday to Saturday. The fare on US Air out of Philly was originally $900. (non-stop) When I booked my flight the airline rep. told me to to keep checking online, and if the fare went down, call back to get a voucher. It went down to $800 and I got a $100 voucher. The same flight is now $872! I always book my flight 330 days out from my return since February is very busy and that particular flight sells out very quickly.

We got Quality Inn Airport in Philly for March, '06 on a Friday night for $65. Thought that was a good deal for a Friday. Also, free airport shuttle is important for us. That price was thru Hotels.com
