i am lucky that most of the places i stay at in aruba have an ocean view or partial ocean view in all rooms so i don't have to make that choice. i am an insomniac so being able to look out my window at the water is a great and restful thing. i don't spend 12 hours on the beach each day. i lounge my way there around 9-10 am and leave by 3-4. so there are plenty of hours to just sit and stare. amazing how time flows when you watch water.

That's why I posted the question. I think we are in the minority. Friends of ours we went with last month were in their room a lot more than us. Once in a while we do use the patio or balcony, but not often. I would say, however, that I would not stay at the Aruba Grand beause they have no balcony off the rooms. Sometimes I will sit on it when my husband is getting ready for dinner. I have to admit when I wake up early, I hit the beach and try to take a nap, or should I say, go back to bed on the beach.

When I purchased my timeshares, it was important to me to have a unit that was at least partial ocean view. One of my weeks does not, it's on the ground floor, but it's the first week which makes me look forward to the second and third weeks even more.
I enjoy opening up the drapes in the morning to the sight of the ocean... taking my coffee pot out on the balcony and having breakfast. After the beach and a shower, I find it so restful having a glass of wine sitting out on the balcony, and at the end of the day there's nothing more calming then sitting out there under the stars, watching and listening to the ocean, and waiting for "tomorrow" when I can do it all again. |

Divi - I am in the minority with you! I bought my timeshare at Lacabana facing the Amsterdam Manor. It was cheaper, Friday check in was more convenient for us (you have the whole weekend after to relax and unpack) and I preferred the ground floor unit so I had entrances right to the LR and the BR without having to go inside the resort. Plus I wanted QUIET.
When I exchange, I do enjoy the 2nd floor balcony with a view, but miss my first floor entrances and privacy. I guess it is a trade-off. |
