I've decided i don't like it. Although this seems to eliminate a lot of rude stuff, I think registering has also elimated a LARGE number of other people who simply want to ask a question or two and be gone. It seems the only ones on here are the regulars who usually do all the answering and not the asking. Also the board does take some getting use to as it is a little "busy" with all the formatting. So therefore, it may not be as user friendly as the old board was, especialy for newcomers. I find it is getting boring to come here and I am spending more time on the www.aruba.com board. Maybe the staff might try eliminating the registration. Just my 2 cents.

you are right that it takes a lot of getting used to but i think registration is good in a way. it does eliminate the casual poster, but it also eliminates some of the problems. it is hard to register under an alias if your have to leave your e-mail address. we know the problems that are happening on one board with a person leaving rude and obscene messages. they have had to delay posts as much as 24 hours.
also, take a look at the member's list. there are really a lot of people who have never been to aruba on the list. also, consider that the board has only been here a few weeks and has well over 200 members and still growing rapidly. that's a good sign. please try a little more to get used to this bb jim. it needs people like you who really can give out great information. I think in the long run the registration will be a good thing. Just go to http://www.aruba-bb.com/ for example. They have over 10,000 messages and more than 3000 members signed up. And the big difference between that board and Aruba.com is that there is virtually none of the nonsense going on.
Aruba.com has 67,000 topics, but 30,000 are questions about being topless, 20,000 are about drugs, 10,000 are the same message repeated over and over by one person, and 5,000 are from another instigator from the Mid-West. That leaves about 2,000 real posts.

funny, i find it the opposite because of the option for new posts. i also get a feel for the members by reading their info. the best part for me is that my info goes from one computer to the other seeing i get to read the board at work. if i go to new posts from either computer, i get to read the latest and not have to browse thru or mark them read.
funny that i like it so much since i also am a creature of habit and truly hate change. in fact, i was sure i was going to hate it and for the first day or two i did. then it reminded me of the day in geometry class when i 'finally got it'. now i don't miss the old board any more. Quote:

That's it Sherry!!! Going back to my old geometry days, I never did get it!!
I'm not a quitter though, and I enjoy "hearing" everyone's thoughts about my favorite place so I'll forge ahead. Just seems to me that I'm "clicking" a lot. Enjoy Mother's Day everyone! |

Jim and Elaine, hang in there! The board is growing, and we'll all get used to the changes. I agree with Scuba, the aruba.com board is a weak alternative - the one thing for sure is there will be no shortage of newbies there. I'll trade newbies for civility any day, but no need to trade - give it time, they will come to us here.

Is being Topless in Aruba a Problem? I have been walking around topless pretty much all my life..... Sometimes my kids say DADDD Put your shirt on..... So who is offended by us guys not wearing a shirt on the beach???? Oh your talking about women... My mistake. Never mind.....

Come to think of it, most of the topless women I've seen need to cover up.

have you also noticed that most of the men who go topless have bigger ***** than the women who go topless? however, you do realize that the whole point of topless is that people in many countries are not taught as we are that your body has to be perfect to be enjoyed. i know i would never go topless cause my body sure ain't nowhere near perfect. flaws galore on this old lady. however, i have watched 80 year old european women with ***** that hit their knees standing at bucuti talking and being completely comfortable. i wish we were more like that. not that everyone needs to be topless but that we should like ourselves.
