Default In Aruba now Allegro boarded up

I'm in Aruba now from 8/6 till 8/20... Checked it out.. Lobby is gone and front boarded up.. Temporary casino entrance to the side.. Casino half cut off with partition.. Viewed from the back all eateries are completely gone including dance/ billiard room. Looks like Beirut 70's without the bullet holes.. Spoke with a GM at the casino he said maybe a June July 2006 reopening. Delays with contractors and euro shipping and costs which escalated due to euro vs. dollar... Like the Radisson which had a rehab it was an extra 1 yr delay.. Hold on cause thats what to be expected. If you think your going to go there between Dec 15 and May 2006 I think your nuts and be ready to go somewhere else in the meantime.. You can always email me at Kmad55@aol.com and put Allegro in the header... I'll give another update next week when I mingle in there again (casino)

That makes sense, didn't think they could get everything done in that amount of time. The place was pretty bad.

I walked by the Allegro several times while I was there. Most of the rooms are all empty and have no windows. Since I just got back on 9/1, it hardly appears that it will be ready to open by 12/05. It seems that they tore the place up all at once instead of doing it by sections. I would say 98% of the rooms along with the pool, lobby and restaurants are all gutted.

Angry Re: In Aruba now Allegro boarded up

Oh so nice, they were to have renovated in 2004, not 2005, naturally for any of us who invested in their vacation share are screwed....... was to have been enjoying the refurbished place this fall, had to scramble for a place to stay since air tickets obtained a year ago. Plus their reservation staff want to pawn you off to other resorts Occidental owns. Ya, right, and become nasty ----------

We actually were just in contact with the hotel directly (end of Oct)...they claim to be ahead of schedule, and are planning the "soft" opening for the resort on Dec 1, 2005. Our reservations are in Feb, and the hotel assured us that the resort will be ready by then! Additionally, we found the web site that shows all of the newly renovated rooms...www.occidental.com (I think)
