Don't you ever for a second get to thinking...the Sox are beatable

Beyonce knew it, I knew it, and now so does everyone else: The Sox are an unstoppable juggernaut.

The Yanks offseason will elicit comparisons to the fall of the Roman Empire, especially if Darth insists on toying with Torre. If Torre goes, watch the pins fall...

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes but, it's true. The Sox are going to the World Series after all and Cleveland is, once again, snakebitten.

Kevin, I have some bad news for you. I am about to ensure a Rockies victory because I shall be pulling for the BoSox (and I still have "the gift"). For those of you that aren't familiar with my gift, it is really very simple. I can guarantee the results of most any sporting event; all I have to do is pledge my allegiance to one team and that generally sews it up for the other team.

I guess we're outnumbered. Funny how the Yankees fans hadn't been here immediately after they lost - only show up to boo the Sox. I haven't been in this thread because I'm not one to say "na-na-na-na-na-na - The Sox won". I'm proud of the Sox, I can't wait for the World Series to start tonight, and may the best team win! (hopefully us!!)

Who would you like to see as Manager - Pena, Girardi, Mattingly? I think Joe Torre is a class act, and I'm glad he didn't take their offer. I feel bad for him....but I'm sure he'll do fine, and do what he wants to do. Maybe even retire - I'm sure financially that wouldn't be a problem!

I dont think he will retire. He still has a lot to offer.

My personal favorite is Girardi because of his personality. They need a big shakeup, these divas, and Girardi would put a spark under their butts. Unfortunately, he also probably would never get along with the Steinbrenner sons.

jml, Corrine is right, we Yankee fans are way too embarrassed to make comments about how badly they did in the play offs. Better to say nothing than to make excuses for them.

If the Steinbrenner sons are anything like George, who could possibly get along with them? Right now it's a war of words - Torre says this, the son(s) say that. I have no doubt that Joe has a lot to offer, he's one of the greatest managers of all time. Let's face it - a manager has a huge role in how his team does, but ultimately it falls on the players. And if Torre couldn't bring the rings home, it's time to switch things up and try a different approach. Truthfully, I can't even imagine watching a Yankees/Sox game next year without seeing calm, cool and collected Joe Torre in the dugout.

But wouldn't it be fun to see a calm Terry Francona and a hot-headed Joe Girardi!

I guess that makes me the third. I have to say that I was impressed. Great pitching, great bats and great defense. What are they missing?

How about the announcement with ARod? I wonder where he'll end up. (Note to Theo: I want Mike Lowell to STAY!)

OH, these are sad days for Yankee fans for sure!!

I think I have said before I knew that something has been wrong with George for a while. Steve Swindal, married to George's daughter was being primed to take over. Then they divorced! The brothers Steinbrenner are going to be a nightmare............

They need to deal with all that crap for sure. I heard Girardi was the front-runner right now. I saw him speaking before the game last night with the Fox people, he seems like a great guy.

Girardi has been chosen! Unfortunately, AROD has opted out.

Next year will be interesting. I heard Torre and Mattingly are going to LA???

That's the rumor (started by Torre's agent). Torre sort-of, kind-of didn't exactly confirm it on Letterman last night.

I love quoting myself

So Torre and Mattingly in Dodger Blue, Girardi on the Yanx bench, and A-Rod leaving. This all while the Sox are still trying to have their parade - things sure are happening fast! Oh and very classy move by A-Rod and his agent, announcing his plans in the middle of the final game.

Said on espn this morning: 'The Red Sox are the new Yankees'.

No that's not what I meant at all. I've said before that history is just that: history, in the past. I don't intend to make a big stink about winning 2 in 4 years, or 5 in 8 years, or even 28 in 80 years (or whatever the Yanx have done). What I meant - what espn meant - was that they are now the top organization in baseball. Best front office, best farm system, brightest future, etc.

Yanks (and their fans) are sadly so shortsighted, always leaning on the past before securing the present or future. Tradition won't get you to .500 next year, so I hope 3rd place feels comfy

Torre and Mattingly heading to LA reminds me of the Corleone's moving from NY to Vegas.

I received an email from a friend yesterday - he's a Mets fan. He said the NY papers are ripping ARod and the Yankees organization, in general, apart. I think what kevind was trying to say is what the NY papers were saying when they were talking about the Sox having both young, farm system and veteran players making the team as strong as it is. And how things seem to be going the team's way, where the Yankee organization is in shambles with everything going on.

Exactly - it used to be that everyone looked to the Yanks as the model to follow, and now that model is the Red Sox. Meanwhile the Bronx is burning again. Now it's up to the Sox (and their fans) to be gracious winners as the dynasty begins. I'm already out of control

Elaine, as I watched the game last night I was thinking of how thrilled you are, and rightfully so. Go Phillies. Wow, did I ever imagine I would say anything other than Go Sox!!! It's your turn!! Enjoy.

I Love Aruba Re: Baseball Rivalries

Well, last night was a disappointment, and we let a few opportunites to score fall apart, but I'm thrilled we split in the Bronx!

Looking forward to a good game in "our house" tomorrow night, hoping that Hamels does well, and those bats that were quiet last night to explode... Go Phillies!!
