Default a bulletin board party in the states? 2008

for the last 3 years we have held a party in the fall in atlantic city. it is a great place to hold one because there is always something to do for gamblers and always a nice bar to have a drink and get along. the negatives are that people who don't have casino cards have to spend big money for rooms at the casinos although there are cheaper non casino rooms and packages are often available. also, those who want to drive instead of fly often have long trips ahead of them. for us it is a 3 hour drive.

so this year, i would like a list of places from all of you. suggestions of where to go. i will eliminate nyc for the reason that hotels are out of sight, cars can't move unless you are used to the traffic and garages cost a fortune plus there are usually no places with space enough to sit and talk. i will include atlantic city on the list since it worked well before.

since as the momma moderator i would like to be there, my only request is that it is less than a 5 hour drive from baltimore. that includes places such as the poconos, the ny mountains, western pa and many others.

what we will be looking for is places with either an all incluse hotel that is affordable or places with a decent selection of bars and restaurants. i would assume that if there are some local activities i.e. casinos, outlet malls, or even local live entertainment, it would just add to it.

i would also assume that september or october would be the months of choice since it is past the worst of the summer heat and before the snows of winter.

so... please post suggestions in this thread. tell us what there is in that area, if there is an airport within an hour's drive, and i will post all suggestions in a poll.

let's see if we can get a nice group together.

Alright Im the first to post a location..Might not be up to standards for the upity big city folks but my home is sitting on the banks of Table Rock Lake in Southwest Missouri. A nice log home which could sleep 10 or 12. Were smack dab in the middle of the Ozarks, a hours drive to Okla for the one arm bandits (slots), fishing, horse back riding, water sking, hunting, running the back roads with a drink in hand, motels, gas, food, and we only have one stoplight in town. I realize nobody comes from the hick state of missouri, too may seed ticks and chiggers, except for us hick-a-billys, ridgerunners and moonshiners... but you'all are welcome to stay with us or in the yard testing your camping skills....Did I metion I have fresh eggs and ham for breakfast, and hot running water for a shower plus a indoor potty for the women folk....

that's a nice invite larry. i gotta tell you though that missouri doesn't fit the 5 hour or less drive although if there is a really cheap flight... but i hope they have hotels in the boondocks, lol, since i don't even bunk in with my kids (except the time that we visited candy in africa and she had the only air conditioning around.)

anyway, it will be on the list as well as atlantic city and possibly the poconos and lancaster or hershy pa. so we now have a start. any other suggestions?
