Talking Do You Remember Your First Time?

the first time you thought you were head over heels in love? I happened to hear a song yesterday which made me think about this. I was about 13 or 14, and his name was Eddie! I constantly walked around singing "Eddie My Love" even though he didn't know I was alive, worse ~ he didn't care!

Since I left my hometown right after high school graduation to go to college in Philly, I hadn't seen him again until my 40th high school reunion. He was a year older, but married a girl from my class who I couldn't stand! He and I had a nice conversation, and all I could think of was "what the hell did I ever see in him?" lol

I thought this would be a fun conversation.... your first love, and what song reminds you of her/him.

great thread! my first love was the boy next door. knew him from birth. he was my first date and both sets of parents thought we would marry. he was the guy i dreamed about until i met murray (awwwww). his parents never spoke to me after murray and i got engaged. i haven't seen him since i was 17. i do know he is a well to do lawyer now. no song reminds me of him at all although my parents used to sing a nauseating song to me from their young days that had his name in it. funny thing, i just googled the song. i never knew all the words. i have to say, they probably didn't either. the song is actually hysterical.

My 'first' was an upcoming very good singer/songwriter.....a couple years older than I was.....that I fell head over heals for at the ripe old age of 13. When I turned 18, he was 21....he got offered a recording contract that he turned down, because I was just settling into college and he didn't want to leave me....(so was he in college as well). He had seen me thru the turbulent childhood I had and we were very attached to each other. So I did the noble thing, and kicked him to the curb so he would GO persue his singing career.....which he did. I spent many many years regretting what I did.....we were sooooooo in love with each other. The fire never has quite gone out.

Not so much as a singer Elaine....(he had a beautiful voice) but as a songwriter he did well. (not that I followed his career or anything )

Life is not fair.....I wish someone had told me it WAS fair....this way, I'd have someone to blame.

I met my first love the summer I was 14. We started dating that fall. He was 16 and could drive! I was so in love with him! They played what became "our song" at the first school dance we went to. It was "See you in September". He broke my heart when he went off to College. We dated a few times after that, but it was never the same. It took me a VERY long time to get over him. A part of me still loves the person he USED to be. He lives in the same small town that we do and I do run into him from time to time, but I am SO glad that we never married. You know the old saying, Love is blind, well, it surely was in this case. I have been happily married to Dan for over 37 years. He has been very patient with me.

Bobbie

PS I have never written about this before.

In the summer of '62, I guess, a skinny kid and his buddy from the fifth grade, took a walk up the dirt road and through the woods, to the playground of another school. They got talking to the kids who were hanging around when the kid spotted the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, he asked the guys who she was and they said, "Wendy."
Fast forward to the spring of '68 and the skinny kid spots the very-same beauty across the high school gym floor. He got up the nerve to go over and talk. They talked through the rest of high school. They talked in church in June of '72. They said, "I do."
They talked through the birth of their daughters and both of their weddings. They talked when each presented them with beautiful granddaughters. They have talked through rough times and great ones. They have talked on beaches throughout the Caribbean; their favorites, in Aruba.
The skinny kid is not as skinny now and he certainly is no longer a kid. The beauty is still a beauty, maybe more than ever. And most of all, they are still talking.
