Default Fountain Pens

Ever fly with a fountain pen? Guy next to me did and now has a shirt covered with a giant ink spot. Pressure inside the pen is greater than the outside one you gain altitude, pushes the ink out.

Have a few old pens myself but always travel with them empty and encased in plastic.

Not important but funny to see this poor chap in straights.

Similar topic... but different.

There is an entire message board fountainpennetwork that deals with nothing but fountain pens, ink, paper, etc. Wow, these people are into pens more than we're into Aruba.

Mont Blanc just opened their boutique store in the King of Prussia Mall in suburban Philadelphia. Plenty of super high-priced things in which I have not interest. HOWEVER, they did have a gorgeous fountain pen, part of what they call their Writer Series. This one was dedicated to William Faulkner and features a bunch of motifs that capture the writer's essence.

I didn't know Faulkner was into aerobatics and that he wrote the script for To Have and Have Not from the Hemingway novel. Hemingway despised Hollywood and Faulkner seems to have done his best to work there while holding his nose.

Just some notes from the margin.

It wasn't a fountain pen, but I did have a pen that lost all its ink in flight once. Fortunately it wasn't in a pocket.

Yeah, pens can be unpredictable, sometimes they have a mind of their own. They start writing before I start thinking.

Speaking of great fountain pen ink and colors. Noodler's has one called Apache. This is a yellow/gold hue that I'm going to rename Aruba Dawn.

As long as this thread is still alive, I'd like to note here that Mont Blanc makes and ink that has a rose scent to it. Quite nice actually, especially in rooms full of old books, used food, and burnt ideas.

I wonder who thought up that good idea!

I just read they have other scents like chocolate and a ginger-snap like fragrance.

I think it was concocted by an exiled Polish monk who got lost on his way to the Caribbean, ended up in Switzerland, and figured while he was there, why not, you know, do something creative.

Stranger things have happened.
