Elisabeth, I never used the word suicide for a reason. He did kill himself. He took too many drugs and he did indeed kill himself, intentionally or not. That's what happens when one indulges in too many drugs.

I was upset that I found out the night of the viewing. My parents, who live across the street from him (caddy corner really), didn't want me to get any more upset than I am now. (Too much going on over here). I'm just upset that I didn't have the chance to say "goodbye" the way I would have liked to.

I'll always remember playing "Ghost in the Graveyard" at his house, and going Trick-or-Treating with him year after year, and having our annual "Party Hardy" summer slumber pool party with the whole neighborhood of kids, or all the times we'd make a Haunted House in someone's yard, or just plain hanging out. He was there the first day I got my dog, Butchie. I have pictures of us sitting on my front lawn, with his house in the background. Kyle was notorious for the weird way he sat: always on his knees, with his feet bent WAYYyyy out. He was someone I saw almost every day growing up. He was dramatic, sometimes moody, funny, and always full of life. It's hard to think of him the way he is now. It's too contrary to his life. I'm still in shock.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Here is my job story.

I am a social worker for the state and have been there for 17 years (normal longevity is 3 years). Several years ago I had a person in management (the person above my supervisor) who I could not stand. A probation officer job opened up and the first words were "why don't you have your master's?" Come to find out, they were already going to take a transfer from the Falmouth court. I was going to quit then decided to get my Master's in school guidance. As soon as I received my degree, the person in management who I did not like, changed what units he covered and I ended up with a nice person to deal with. I applied for a guidance job where I did my internship. Did not even get an interview as they were already taking someone from Barnstable who they knew was a loser. They held onto her for a year because they knew the following year the head of guidance's nephew would have his degree and they hired him imediately. I have since decided that I do not want to work in a school as I would be limited on my vacations. My husband cannot take time off during the summer since we live in a resort area. So our vacations would be limited. There has not been a single probation officer opening since I got my degree several years ago.

Now to 2005. I still do not like my job and applied for a job as the head of the Senior Citizens Center in Wellfleet. Job requirement was a bachelor's degree (makes no sense to me). I come back from vacation to get a letter saying that I would not even be interviewed. You know who got it? The person who is the Beach Administrator. I have about 20 years of social work experience and a person who has managed the beach stickers gets the job. What a joke. The reason? She had administration experience! Jobs depend on who you know.

On the other hand...my sister taught middle school and did not like it. She changed to high school and loved it. Not sure what grade you teach but that may be something to look into. My sister also got her degree in school psychology and now is a school psychologist and loves it. Something else for you to think about. Your foot is already in the door. You would get first chance at a job. In MA they can hire you even if you don't have the degree yet as long as you are taking classes toward it.

Your right Amy I'm sorry. Wording is everything!! Boy has this not been a good month! On top of everything else, my bosses mother was killed in a car crash last week while visting her daughter in California. There are only 3 of us in this office so we are real close! Its really really sad!

And I'm baddling a nasty nasty cold for the past week and can't shake it. But TG with time and medicine I'll be fine!

I want to erase the month of November and start all over (except my trip to Aruba which was fabulous, thank god we had it).

Amie:

It's now a new month. I'm sending good vibes in your direction as well as {{{{{{{{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}.

Take time over the holiday break to relax, relax and relax. Did I say you should also relax .

As a little levity, I'm listing to AOL XM radio's Holiday Songs and the song, Christmastime, from A Charlie Brown Christmas is playing. It just reminded me that the show will be on TV I believe this Friday. Watch it, be a kid again if for a little while

I love that song, Jackie. Starbucks was selling that CD 2 years ago - all the songs from the show.
Amie - I wish some happy, holiday spirit you way. I hope this time of the year can give you a smile.

I don't know so much about showtunes from "It's a Charlie Brown Christmas" (or whatever it was), but, Amie, the month from Hell is now officially over. Things only get better from here!

Thanks Jackie. The AOL CHristmas tunes are the only thing I miss about having AOL. Darn. I used to turn it on all the time during Decemeber. I like all the old fashioned tunes and not so much of the new ones. (Gee, you wouldn't know I was 30 from that statement!). I like Nat King Cole and all the oldies ones as well as stuff they played when I was little. I'll have to find an online substitute.

Can't say today is relaxing though. We're having a party tonight. And I'm getting observed (again) on Tuesday. Lots to do here.

Thanks! We love having people over, especially because a lot of them haven't seen our new place yet. Lar is trying to get the basement set up for a jam session. Lots to do down there since there's a lot of dust, etc. OK, back to cleaning...
