Dear friends….I thought I would share this with You.

Dec. 1st. my small town got hit with 19.2 inches of snow…The most singe snowfall in 27 years…Heck…If we get 5in. that’s a lot. Anyway…In the winter months I plow snow…not commercially…just for people I clean for and older folks…It just extra money…or as Georgene would say…” It’s Aruba money “…..anyway..

I had a hard time getting done with just the accounts I have all ready….and people everywhere were trying to stop me to plow them….I couldn’t do them ALL….

But every time I would drive by an older person or Lady shoveling…I couldn’t pass them up…and they weren’t even trying to stop me. I would pull in…wave them off…and do a quick one in there driveway…( just so they could drive out )….honk…and leave…I didn’t know them…they didn’t know me…Well

I received a card today with a letter in it…From someone…I don’t know…and it read….

Dr. Mr.(I will just say Danny )….You don’t know me, but I know you now….My name is ( blank ) and I am 78 years old and In great shape…I must say….I do all my own shoveling because it gives me exercise that I need, but this last snow was a doosie…So I thought….Well…I will just do a little at a time…and in a couple days….I will make it.

At my age…I don’t have too many places to go. I thought my years of a knight in shinning armor had long since passed me, but there you were…and I never even got your name.

I asked my neighbor…who you plow for all the time…and she said….Oh…that’s Danny….I have known his family since he was a little guy….Well…I want you to know…I had tears in my eyes…as I watched you drive a way….bless you Sir….If I may…I want to share this poem….I don’t know who wrote it, but it has been with me a long time and this is how I feel…..


I know Something Good About You….

Wouldn’t this world be Great,
If folks We Meet would say,
“I know something good about you “
Then treat you just that way?

And wouldn’t life be a lot more Happy?
If the good that’s in us All,
Were the only thing about us,
Folks bothered to recall?

And wouldn’t life be full of giving?
If we praised the good we see,
For there’s such a lot of goodness,
In the worst of you and me.



This really got to me….My middle son was with me that day…and he kept saying….”Aren’t you going to charge them….Dad…Charge them something…..but they never even asked…I did say…he said…”Your crazy “…Well I gave him the letter and he said….OK….Nice, but it doesn’t buy McDonalds…..He’s 22 years old….and my Mission is not done with him yet. Ha

Dan.... that's just the nicest story, and warms my heart. Of course, you warm my heart, too!

Yes folks, I had the pleasure of spending time with Dan and George on Aruba last February... and although his stature is large, he's like a pussy cat and soooooooo very lovable. He was affectionately known by one and all as my boy toy!! mg_smile And how lucky am I that he called me today, and then here he is telling this wonderful story!!

I wish people would have Dan's spirit all year long like he does. You are a mighty oak, and here's to you, my friend!

This coincides with a big story in today's newspapers on LI about a woman who lost her business's bank deposit at a movie theater, and an 18 year old boy who found it and returned every penny!

There is alot of good people out there, like you, but we dont hear about them too often!

Papa --

A couple of years ago we had a big snowfall and the city plow fellow saw me trying to unclog the end of my driveway from the chest high pile that had accumulated from overnight plowing. He waved me aside and in one fell swoop got rid of what could have taken me an hour.

He wouldn't stop to be thanked but just moved on.

It's wonderful that you were reached with that poem. Know that every single person you were able to help out will never forget your kindness. I'll never forget his.

Big Papa...I knew from the first time we talked on the board that you had a heart of gold...after I met you last year in Aruba...I knew for sure you are a BIG MAN WITH A BIG HEART...you are a man from my own heart...
