Default Movies

Yesterday I bought a DVD the movie Amarican Pie. I heard about it but never saw it. Are there any more good humor movies you know of?

Aside from humor movies which movie would one see again?

I saw The sound of music 3 times.

Wow, a woman who saw the Sound of Music 3 times bought American Pie!! Blenchi, I hope you're not a prude! American Pie is a very funny movie, the kids loved it years ago, about young guys trying to have s*x. If you llike it, there is American Pie 2 and American Pie Wedding.

Here what I love:
Love Actually, The Full Monty and Seeking Ned Devine(british and irish) - low key, but very, very funny.
All Woody Allen movies, Analyze This (billy crystal and robert de niro), The Birdcage (Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and a hysterical Hank Azaria).
My Big, Fat Greek Wedding and
last year I LOVED Sideways - again low key but great.

Enjoy!

I'm a big fan of all those Coen movies (Raising Arizona, O Brother Where Art Thou, yes Fargo) - they're so clever and unique. Those accents in 'Fargo' do get to ya, you betcha!

Also Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and anything else by the Farrely Bros. And don't froget Napolean Dynamite! None of these movies have the tata's like American Pie does, but they're good family fun, and dang funny!

Oh, and for a classic, try Better Off Dead. I want my two dollars!

agree on all again but fargo. something in that movie drove me crazy and irritated me. probably the only thing i liked were the accurate accents. just watched the movie and wondered why anyone would rant and rave about it. still have to try napolean dynamite. sounds like good fun.

OH, I forgot Brother Where Art Thou! Great movie! Still loved Fargo though.

For an old movie how about Some Like It Hot, The THin Man or anything with Carole Lombard!

Who saw Caligula? Disgusting. We left the cinema after a time. Was it allowed in the USA? I know that USA cuts alot of s.e.x acts.

I believe the Sherry story was on its way to simulating Caligula on Ren island, before dissolving...

Fargo is set in Minnesota and North Dakota, where there are some of the worst accents known to humanity. It makes for a fun movie, you betcha! There is a murder or 2, a pregnant cop ('carrying quite a load here'), a man trying to stage a kidnapping of his wife to raise money, and best of all: Steve Buscemi. If ever you see his name on the credits, get the movie.

Napolean Dynamite is an indie movie with no-name actors, about a nerdy high-schooler and his brother (the secret star of the movie) set in rural Idaho. Them and their uncle do some silly stuff, it's really hard to even describe any plot for you. It's very entertaining for all ages, and will leave you with some memorable moments and catch-phrases. Think 'Sling Blade', how everyone was walking around saying "I like taters, umm hmm" for months after that came out...

Both are entertaining movies - Napolean is funnier, Fargo is dark humor so a different kind of funny. We own both on DVD, that's how much we like 'em...

I agree! I love Steve Buscemi! Born and bred Long Islander, too!

Blenchi, what was that John Candy movie with Maureen O'Hara as his mother? Very funny movie!

Some of my favs are Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Better off Dead, How to Loose a guy in 10 Days, Zoolander and Grease just to name a few (these are top of my list!). Another really funny one is Love Stinks!
As for the Hub, he loves Dumb & Dumber, Old School, Dude Where's My Car, Swingers, True Romance, Resevoir Dogs and Purple Rain (yes the Prince movie!).

Ahhhhh Dirty Dancing I saw many times and want to see it again. Woopi Goldberg she is my favorite too. All the movies in which she plays are hilarious. There is another actress the name I can't recall at this moment. She is in her fifthees and looks very young for her age. She has blond hair and played alot of humor movies. One of her movies she had a role in the army....hahahahhaha

I can't watch that Pulp Fiction movie. It competely grosses me out. I get the "eeebbee geebee's" if I even see a scene from it. Lar likes it though.

Anyone watching "Lost?" We just bought the first season box set and we've watched and enjoyed 5 episodes so far. Don't give anything away though! We really don't know anything beyond that episode.

Anybody saw the movie Downfall? Its about Hitler in his last days. I came out of the cinema feeling very depressed. Never again I will go to a war movie. The guy who played Hitler was fantastic.

I bet you would be! I kinda like Sawyer too! The accent, the body and the blonde streaks - what more could you ask for!

Fact: Everyone posting on the new Natalee thread sounds like Mary Steenburgen's character from the movie Philadelphia.

Fact: Mary Steenburgen's character in the movie lost the case.

Fact: This has absolutely nothing to do with anything; I just posted it over here in the Movies thread because it contains a movie reference.

We just saw 'The Lords of War' last nite with Nick Cage, excellent movie. It claims to be based on true events about gunrunners, which is scary...

Two thumbs up!

Default Movies

We just recently rented a GREAT movie (just out on DVD) I highly recommend, called Crash. It has a bunch of big-name actors, also Ludacris (rapper), and is a very compelling movie involving race issues and personal conflict. Very intense...

That was good. I liked how they linked all the characters together. The little girl scene ( when she ran out to protect her Dad ) was intense.

OMG, that scene was unbelievably intense! Excellent scene in an excellent movie.Loren didn't like the movie as much as I did, only because she didn't like the strong hate messages that were out there. I tried to explain to her how they were showing both sides of that, and how the same people that were hating were also being heroes, but she couldn't get past the bad...

Default Domino Harvey

Has anyone out there seen the movie 'Domino Harvey'? We went to see it last weekend, and LOVED it. Now I've taken a few punches over my positive review of Napolean Dynamite, but let me assure you all that this one has plenty of action - not to mention a babe for the lead role. Great cast, even a couple dudes from 90210
