If you don't behave with that SUV stuff, I'll be happy to fill Loren in not only about jewelry shopping, but car shopping!!! Steve's MB is in his name but guess who uses it?

We saw Harry Potter, another one that Loren liked a good deal more than me. As the kid actors get older they're less appealing (aren't we all?) and less convincing...

Loren drives a tiny sports car, but ever since she used the Jeep to drive her friends to Delaware, she now is a big fan (she had been afraid to drive it). In fact, I'm a (closet) fan of minivans, but she will NEVER allow us to own one, kids or not. She's more of an SUV fan than I am (if that's possible), so you're out of luck!

Hey Princess.

Me thinks you’re in for a fantastic show, where this new Kong movie will no doubt be one of the Years best cinematography creations.

But then again, so was the original w/ Fay Ray for me, back in the days when I liked to smoked pot, drop acid, and believe that life was naught but a Lost Song, & a Jimi Hendrix Concert.

I can still visualize & remember how that movie made me cry, for days on end, just like the baby I was then.

Not sure if I can stand watching such a noble Beast wasted to human Endeavor & Greed, again, but I’m sure I'll try.

I’ve no doubt this will be the greatest Kong of all, yet even so, I know that I’ll be heavily heart broken to see another innocent Man or Beast, slaughtered simply for the sake of Political Money Grubbing, even though I know, this is nothing more, then pure fiction.

Right!

Well, I'm not so much into human folly & religion, as much as I am spiritual, so I don't really perceive myself as a bible stomping, bully on the pulpit, Moron, but I do believe that such tales are an epitome to money being the root of all of mans evils & downfall.

Still, just like you, Dear, and just to reinforce my own concept to that rule, I've no doubt that I’ll be one of the 1st ones to go and see it, too.

Last night I rented 40 Year Old Virgin - It was what I expected - but there was a scene where the main character went to have the hair taken off his chest - OMG ...I haven't laughted so hard in a long time.

Tonite we are going to see King Kong.

OK, I have a confession - this weekend, one of the movies we rented was...oh man I can barely say it.......Duece Bigalow, Euro Gigalo (Corrine, that makes 3!)

So bad - Loren was the one that wanted to see it, but 20 minutes in she was ready to bail. I made us watch it to the end - if we rent it we watch it, that's my rule.

You have RULES that Loren has to abide by???????????? It's kinda like "you break it, you buy it." Holy sh-t, now I really can't wait to talk to her at the next BB party - she has some "learnin'" to do!!

Papa; hot waxing any dudes chest like that should be outlawed as inhuman torture under the patriot act.

Tell you what, after one or two rips across my chest, and even I'd be tempted to give up the drawings on what ever they wanted to know. lol.

Thanks, Modman.

I think you just helped me be at least $3.95 richer by the end of this month.

On the other hand, we also rented a good one that we finally watched last night: 'High Tension'. We'd never seen any previews for it, but the cover looked good so we took a chance on it (famous last words!). Excellent horror/thriller combo, VERY tense and scary, a bit gory at times, and a surprise twist at the end. Two thumbs up!

Well we went to see " King Kong ".... way to long " alittle over 3 hrs.

I wish I would have been 10 years old ...I would have liked it better. How they made Kong look was the Best. My 14 year old gave it a 2.5 out of 5 ... I gave it a 2 ....Way to long and way to over the Top.

I recently bought "CRASH" from half.com. It stars Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle and Matt Dillon, among others. Great movie. Gives one something to think about.
One of our very favorite movies is, "THE OTHER SISTER". too cute!!!
Anyone want to "borrow" "CRASH", will be happy to mail off to you.

I agree about Crash, possibly the best movie I've seen this year - Loren didn't like it as much, mainly because it had some disturbing moments (she loves horror movies, but can't watch those pet detective shows either!). It really does make you think, I thought it was brilliant - reminded me of Magnolia, another excellent 'indie' movie.

How's this for a contrasting weekend in movies: We're watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose tonight, we've rented The 40 Year Old Virgin and March of the Penguins for family viewing this wknd, then Loren and I will go see Wolf Creek (horror ala Chainsaw Massacre) on Monday. Now that's balance!

Corrine - National Lampoon"s Christmas - is always good for some laughs.

Not a chance of going to see that one!! I'm usually not too bad on horror flicks, but that one looks way too scary! Give an update when you get back.

I forgot about March of the Penguins... got it in the family yankee swap last week but haven't watched it yet.. maybe this week, I've still got 2 more weeks before I go back to work!!

'Wolf Creek': AWFUL. Not scary, not suspenseful, not worth the cost of admission even at a matinee price - don't even rent it when it comes out!

'March of the Penguins': EXCELLENT. Worth seeing twice.

Last night we watched 'IHuckabees', which turned out to be excellent, very funny.

Looking forward to the Tarantino film 'Hostel' opening in a couple weeks, looks really scary/gross (my fave)...but then so did Wolf Creek.

I tend to like comedy best, so my personal favorites are:
Napoleon Dynamite (subtle but hilarious)
The Full Monty
Best In Show
Rat Race

And yes, we have all of them on DVD. I'll have to ask Brett what his favorites are, to get his point of view. My bro gave me a "Brat Pack" collection for Christmas. We watched "Breakfast Club" Christmas evening. So long ago.....

Fortunately, I think we have better relations between the races/cultures here in New York since we work/live so close together. I heard L.A. was notorious for lousy tolerance, like the movie shows, people dont interact as much. Maybe someone from the west coast could comment on this.

I can tell you for a Fact - That in my small Midwest town ( 2hrs. west of Chicago ) if you are a Black man driving thru our town and a police man spots you, there is a 80% chance you will be pulled over and checked out. When someone says that you can't get pulled over for no reason, they can make A reason.

They sure can! And you dont have to be black. If I drive down south with my NY plates, I am usually pulled over as well, or at least followed for miles.

And yet the movie was so positive about people being the same, under our different colors. THe scene with Matt Dillon pulling Thandie Newton out the of burning car was so emotional!

We went to see King Kong since I heard mixed reviews and I never listen to the reviews unless a movie is a complete bomb. I really enjoyed it -- scenes were good, special effects were good and I love to see such a big beast interact with a small woman. It was 3 hours long but it was entertaining. Of course, you always feel so bad at the end for Kong who is treated unfairly. It's worth seeing on a big screen at the movies.

Thanks, aquarius. Hubby is bugging me to see this, and I have been putting him off due to the 3 hours! But you brought up a good point - it is probably better to see it on the larger movie screen.

Corrine, glad I went to see it and at some points you are holding your breath in the scenes on Skull Island where they encounter King Kong. The stereo surround sound and large screen add to the enjoyment. Go for it and enjoy! Marie

Here's a link to some info, and an interview with the director and Quentin Tarantino: http://www.nymag.com/nymetro/movies/features/15436/

I'll post a review here tomorrow, after I get back from the cleaners

Just read the review on this one! I don't think you're gonna get Loren there. Lots of blood and guts!

Now Match Point is more my thing. However, I think I am committed to that darn King Kong..............

Kevin - My Son(21) and his girlfriend went to see HOSTEL and they walked out. He said there was to much Blood and Gore.

I said -" well Son you knew there would be Blood and Gore " - he said his girlfriend Freaked. Ha

The phrase I keep seeing is, "Not for the faint of heart." I suppose that doesn't rule you out. So, how was it? (Still sleeping it off at this hour, I presume.)

HOSTEL...no way, no how for Cathy. I'm guessing Brett might see it on travel one of these days.
