I'm dying to see what Kevin has to say about this movie. I still can't believe Loren will sit through it.

I talked hubby into "Match Point" for tonight. I can't wait!

OK, I'm here to tell the tale on Hostel. First, for those of you who don't know the dealio, it's loosely based on rumor/legend/internet. Apparently there are places where, if you are willing to sacrifice yourself for money to help your family, you can sell yourself to these bad people. These same bad people are in the business of permitting (for a large fee) those with a desire to torture or kill people to scratch their itch. Ah, commerce. The victim's family gets a few bucks, and the freaks get to do what they've always dreamed of doing.

For those of you wondering, Quentin Tarantino did not produce or direct or write this movie, he basically just had a few drinks with the director and maybe told him a couple ways to have people die or something...

So, to the movie. As BP said, anyone who enters the theater should not be surprised that there is blood and gore - it's well advertised as a gorefest. Loren and I sat through it, and it wasn't that difficult. To be honest, I'm a bit let down that it wasn't gorier/bloodier - not that I'm a freak or vampire, but after all the hype I was expecting more than I saw. Yes there are moments that make you say 'Ugh' out loud, but only a couple. Loren was actually kind of bored, waiting for the blood (no she's not a vamp either). For 45 minutes or so, it's building the story - it was a little agonizing, I wanted to shout 'where's the gore?'

Final grade: C+ . More blood and gore than the average movie, but not what I was hoping to see. Sliced achilles tendons, blow-torched eyeballs, and chainsawed legs are pretty gruesome, yes - but apparently I need NC-17 gore.

Enjoy!

Corrine - You want to know how small my town is -? Walk the Line came to our Theater Friday and George and I went to see it tonite. Powerful movie - Great acting. Not only was it about all you said - but It was also about how much he Loved a Woman ( June Carter ) - he was Crazy about her.

There's a reason your town is so small - we've all been looking for it but so very few of us actually make it.

This is true! Glad you enjoyed Walk The Line, BP! I enjoyed it more than last night's adventure, Match Point. I am a huge Woody Allen fan. The acting was great, the scenes of London brought back some good memories, but......where was the story line? The story was almost the exact same as the Montgomery Clift-Elizabeth Taylor "A Place in the Sun". Nothing new - neer do well boy meets rich girl, gets good job with her father, marries, and gets his girlfriend on the side pregnant. The ending was different. I was disappointed, I guess I expected plot twists and turns, a murder mystery, like Crimes and Misdemeanors. Oh well.

Last week we saw " Kingdom of Heaven" pretty good as I like history based movies. It was something for me to even sit a watch a movie. I will have to do it more often. I am going to see "memoirs of a geisha" I read the book about 6 years ago and dying to see the movie.

We saw Flight Plan last nite. Good movie. Jodie Foster stared, along with a very cute 6 year old newcomer. Nice little twist at the end too. Georgene likes the Suspense ones.

We're getting ready to go see a matinee of Underword - Loren likes her vampire movies...

On my agenda for tomorrow, BP! Sounds good! Last weekend we saw Munich. Very, very intense, brings out the points of view of both sides. Eric Bana is quite a hottie. (sorry ).

Last weekend we rented RedEye and Mr & Mrs Smith. Both were entertaining. Angelina and Brad definitely have chemistry!

Last night I got Wedding Crashers for Steve. I laughed harder the second time than the first! Vince Vaughn is a riot!

Last Saturday I took my 10 year old grand-daughter to see "Hoodwinked",
we were both very disappointed in this movie. Only parts that were good were the ones we had seen in advertisement on TV. Theater was packed with kids coughing, sneezing, and what not, and guess who has it all now????

Oh yeah - Underworld. Great action, but I was lost with the plot. These comic book movies aren't easy to follow, who was the original werewolf or vampire, who's good/bad etc, but the action was non-stop. And Kate Beckinsale looked GREAT...

So does my husband, BP! It must be a common thing, lol! Yes I knew he was that tall. Did you see him tower above everyone at the Chinese wedding? I thought the two of them had a great chemistry, too, in a different way of course.

Hanging out to watch Flightplan today. I am terribly hung-over.

Saw Crash last night which was given to us to watch. Excellent movie, twist at the end. Worth watching and keeps your interest to the end. My husband was watching Underworld and it looked too weird for me. He likes all those kind of things as well. Marie

I stand by my earlier comments, Crash was the best movie of 2005 - we may have to rent it again.

Underworld was good action, but who knew what was going on??

As for Angelina - I'm not the only one in our house who would like to start some chemistry with her

Darn, that's a bummer. That movie is on my watch list, though maybe it'll move down. We just watched the 3 Indiana Jones movies with our boys, 11 and 8. One version had a second DVD with behind the scenes stuff. VERY interesting how they did special effects before computers could do it all for you.

He was still good, Cathy, but I just feel that "fire" that used to be in his eyes is gone! Remember Schlindler's List, where he scared the crap out of us?

I liked Four Brothers too..It was more of a Guy flick. How did you like Capote?....I sure like the actor that played him...I think he is under rated...I really liked him in Patch Adams...( one of my favs )

Capote starts off very slow, thought I was going to lose Steve to snoring, when it really picks up due to the unbelievable Phillip Seymour Hoffman! It is a great story to see how Truman Capote "made friends"/used the killers he depicted in In Cold Blood. Great story, fantastic acting! He certainly deserves his Oscar nomination, I believe Chris Cooper is nominated too!

Since we knew we were gonna get a bunch of snow this wknd, i went Friday nite to Blockbuster to load up. Imagine that - so did the entire population of Northern Virginia! I was forced to get creative in my selections, since everything I wanted was already rented. The good news - I found another one of those Sundance sleepers that turned out to be an excellent movie: Thumbsucker - has anyone seen it? If not give it a try, very entertaining...

We also watched 'Waiting', the movie about a bunch of 20-somethings working at a restaurant. Pretty dang funny, + lots of special features included on a second disc.

Thumbs up Movie "DaVinci Code"

We saw it over the weekend and both enjoyed it.
Paul and I each loved the book, but felt the book was a
bit wordy and went on and on a bit too much.

We found the movie to be just the opposite......not as much information given.

Folks sitting near us seemed to be "totally lost" and on the way out of the theater they were saying they should have read the book.

We did have a nice movie outing and I give it 2 thumbs up.

Agreed! I had loved the book and wasn't sure what to expect from the movie, especially after the bad reviews in NY. It was great! Ron Howard did an excellent job keeping the "flavor" of the book and took the time to have the characters explain things. Steve had no problem following it!

An interesting story to be sure!

I didn't read the book. I was lost. Took an afternoon nap after finishing my popcorn.

I read the book and thought they did a nice job with the movie. My husband didn't read it, got bored, took a nap and when we got in the car to head home he reminded me that Indiana Jones found the Holy Grail a few years ago!

My hubby wants to see the Code. I've read the book and didn't care for it at all (Holy Blood Holy Grail was much better).

Prediction: We will go. He will fall asleep. I will be annoyed.

We saw The Break-UP last night (Vince Vaughn, Jen Aniston). I'd give it one thumb up (Loren) and one sideways (me). Comedy was OK, but not enough of it - I think they spent too much energy making it realistic, which it was. Too much arguing and consequences etc, not enough of Vince making me laugh. The 'Tone Rangers' (singers w/o instruments) are the funniest!!

We saw this last night. True it is not super-funny, but I could relate to their arguments and I thought Jen and Vince had great chemistry on the screen (and apparently off-screen, too!). The Tone Rangers were a riot!

Very easy to relate to the movie. As Vince (co-producer) says, 'Sometimes arguments are about so much more than the remote control or the dishes (or whatever you're arguing about)'. They did have good chemistry...

We saw Nacho Libre friday night. It's the movie with Jack Black starring as a servant in a monastery, while at night he's secretly wrestling as a luchador in their version of the WWE. It is VERY funny, thanks to his ability to make anything seem funny - all he has to do is look at you, and you can't help but laugh. Add to that the writer is the same guy that created Napolean Dynamite, and you have a recipe for silliness!

Not a single curseword, kids will love it (and 40+ yr old kids too!)

Nachoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
