Default today's the day

yes folks, after eating myself nearly to death in aruba, today starts 'THE DIET!!!' the treadmill is coming out of hiding (i wonder if the sucker still works), the kitchen digital scale is being dusted off as well as the healthometer doctor's scale and my first weekly spreadsheet has been printed although not perfected (isn't the word 'spread'sheet appropriate?) i have 62 days until the next trip to aruba and i plan to be at least 10 lbs lighter and then to be a little more controlled on desserts and appetizers for those 14 days before returning home after a bit of backsliding to lose the rest of the weight which is a goal i am not ready to admit to, lol.

so, anyone else want to get in on this and challenge themselves? anyone else dieting? anyone want to really complain about it?

if you do, you must promise to be honest...gain or lose...and report in at least once a week. if you come up with a great diet recipe you must share it.

fyi, i am loosely basing my diet on the weight watcher's point system. how about you?

I wish you the best Sherry. The mind is your power. If you can convince your mind...that it wants you to loose weight..then you will..
What do they say....Mind over Matter

It seems lately...my Mind doesn't Matter...what I say.

All that talk about diet and exercise makes me want to take a nap. Maybe I'll eat some barbecue later.

Been riding my bicycle as much as possible. Did cut back from 2 coca-cola each day to 1. If I could only give up the Pepperidge Farm cookies I would be a stick. Or, if my pen weighed about 20 pounds, I'd have arms like Schwarzenegger.

Hi Sherry. I'm currently working on the same goal as you ... lose 10 lbs. My high school reunion is the end of Sept and that's a good motivator for me. I love step-aerobics, so I do that for about an hour each morning and then try to control portion sizes and cut down on carbs. Not sure what got into me yesterday though. I pigged out on pasta and then finished an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt. YIKES! The yogurt alone was like 600+ calories. Oops!

trudie, the cat in your avatar has the same coloring as my fat cat.

i have been eating ice cream every day with this diet. weight watchers has some very tasty ice cream. we just went thru a box of their cookies and cream bars.

my weakness is carbs so i understand pigging out on pasta. i could eat large amounts 24/7 until i exploded. more than that, give me big chunks of good bread. ok, it's a toss up. give me a big chunk of bread with my pasta and a little sauce to dunk the bread in, lol.

Well as far as a "diet" really not on anything in particular, just watching and trying to cut the calories. I think I have lost some weight, however, according to my doctors' scale, uh no!! But, I tried the dress on that I bought and wore for Corinne's wedding a year ago, and it fits much better, and if I do say so myself, looks much better too!! Also, another dress that I could barely squeeze into last summer now fits much better. Most of my clothes are fitting and looking better, so I think something is working. I think it is the walking that friends and I are trying to do at least 3 times a week...(the weather around here is making that next to impossible). We are up to 3 miles a day which is good. I feel great after a walk. I am also doing my Jazzercise strength training and aerobics tapes when the walking isn't an option. (which is what I should be doing right now). Also doing AB LOUNGE along with the tapes. Still have some real problems with the mid-section...but I'm working on it. It is shrinking..but it's the toughest part for me...and it can't be gone soon enough!!!
sherry...aren't you glad you asked?

Every day I say I'm going to start a diet, and don't. I've now set July 1st as my start date... I have an exta 15 pounds that will be gone when I hit Aruba in January!

By the way sherry ~ you have to try the WW latte' bars.. they are absolutely delicious!

13 pounds....that's wonderful!!!! Like I said before, according to my scale, I've lost about 7 or 8 pounds, but according to the doctors scale I gained a half a pound. Talk about being p***ed off. But, not to be discouraged,(we think his scale needs recalibrated or something) I always remember, that muscle is heavier than fat!! Sounds good, but when the scale doesn't seem to move, it is tough to stay positive. But, I think the excersize is easier in some ways for me...I love to eat, and we also do alot of socializing on the weekends with friends....mainly dinners out on Fridays and Saturdays, accompanied with adult beverages...so, it's a balancing act for me to try and stay on the right side of the calorie counter. But, we went to 7 Springs last weekend for our machine bowling league, and we managed to walk everyday and swim around in the pool. My goal is just look better for vacation in September(seeing pictures from last year make me sick), but also to get into a good habit so that I can try and stay healthy for ever. I am trying to keep the cholestoral from climbing any higher...(it is a little higher than my doctor wants it)...I don't want to end up on medication.....will be doing blood work next week in preparation for the dreaded colonoscopy (my first one)....so hopefully the cholestoral thing will be better than 6 months ago.

i haven't checked in for weeks on this so you probably think i quit the diet. actually i didn't. in fact, a few weeks ago i got a new used treadmill and am actually using it every day. i have many pounds to go but i have now reached my pre aruba weight loss goal.

as of today it is 19 pounds! i figure, if i am fairly careful in aruba, and convince murray to take some beach walks, i will come back at 15 pounds and have to start again from there.

lots to go (33.5 lb more to my goal weight) but it is a start.
