I just got back from my polling place. I was third in line. The workers at the table said that the line was out the door when they opened at 7:00 a.m. and that they expected a big rush around noon and another one after five. They had four sign-in tables, divided alphabetically, and I was number 151 at my table (at approx. 8:30 a.m.). Based on past experience, that is better than average turnout for a presidential election.
Starbucks, Ben & Jerry's and Krispy Kreme are all giving away freebies to people that show up today with "I Voted" stickers on their apparel. I already got one free coffee; ice cream comes later (and I'll probably take a pass on the donut). One thing I noticed about my ballot, if a voter checks the box for straight party voting, they do not cast a vote for president. In many states (including Alabama, obviously), straight party voting is for State and local races only. Not trying to give anything away here, but, if anyone wants to count me in an informal exit poll, register one vote for Obama/Biden.

I left my office to go vote so that I wouldn't have to hit the dinner rush. My neighborhood votes in a local public school, and because of the large turnout, they divided the electors into two precincts, each voting in a different area within the school. I was about 15th in line so it wasn't too bad.
Tonight I'll be glued to the television. This is the first time in a very long time that I'm excited about an election. Whoever is elected President, I pray that he stays safe, our country stays safe, and the economy begins an upswing. Charlie... I'm with you!

I guess that means at least 4 votes for Obama/Biden!
I was at my polling place at 7:00 am(before work) and i finished in 20 minutes. I even beat my boss in to work! Unfortunately elaine, I think it is going to take quite a while before this economy gets to where we can breath a little easier. imho |

donnie ~ Sadly, I have no doubt that it will take quite a while for the economy to begin to get back to where it should be ~ no matter who wins.
By the way... good choice! lol Quote:

was voter number 239, hubby was 240 about 3:00. Our normal turnout in our ward is 200 or so..so I think we were doing wonderful. Didn't wait in any line..but they said early voters were out the door. Another good sign that this election is a biggie. I will be glad that this is over...but I will be sad that my phone will quit ringing......I was becoming close personal friends with the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton...Mr. Obama...
