[QUOTE=kevin d]That is too funny!!!
My sister has one that is about 130 lbs, and you just described it. Very gentle, but very protective - and has the ability to destroy anything in it's path if so desired. One strong dog! kevin - they are a strong dog. before I bought her, she was a show dog. her temperment was great and she loved to sit at your feet and let you pet her all day long. the only problem was her slobbering! |

Elisabeth-NJ, I'm sure you've seen these trucks on the road. We've got an 18 ft. mobile kitchen, equipped with steam tables, grill, double fryer, double upright freezer and refrigerator, loads of cabinets, all stainless steel diamond plate inside. Dave's business is stationary, on Rt. 130 N in South Brunswick. He's there 5 days a week, from 5:30 a.m. (breakfast) to 2 p.m. We do just a couple carnivals/street fairs during the spring/summer. As I said, he goes to work happy, has a great time w/his customers, and comes home smiling! Must be nice!

Sandra,

Boxers are very active dogs. They need to run and play. As far as the jumping goes, that is just a matter of what you teach them. Yes they did when they were little but we made it clear we did not like that. However to see them jump into my husbands arms was a hoot.
They are the most loyal animals you can have. My husband had a boxer before when he was little and he told me "once you had a boxer you won't want anything else". I, having had many other dogs, of course was very sceptical about that statement. However I must admit he is right. I will not get anything else but a boxer if I ever have to get another dog again. I am trying to talk my husband into getting two more...... Quote:

My wife (Iracema) and I are very fortunate to live here (Aruba that is) and we love every minute of being here. We have been married for 4 years. I am older than she is and we find that living here - moves us away from prejudice and constant leering. We have a neat little son who is 2 1/2 and goiing on 30. He makes us insanely happy.
My past business history includes timeshare management and consulting and then purely into consulting any start up businesses. Currently we have a company called Aruba Fast Phones and we focus on renting cell phones to the Aruba visitors. OUr locations are at the airport and across the street from Allegro. Our soon to be revised web site will show all of this. My wife was an athlete on the Cuban olympic team and when she did not make the finals, went into dancing. We met here on Aruba while she dance in one of the Cuban reviews. I love to write about our island and sometimes get carried away with it. My spelling and grammar are third grade level however I just plug on and hiss at anyone that dares correct my speeelling. Our mutual hobbies iclude mostly things surrounding our son and I srite poetry and small short stories. You can see some of my poetry on poetry.com (last name) croes - (first name ) charles. I hope they still have it there. That is it and thank you for the gracious manner that you have all welcomed us to this site. Us and the tyke |

HUGO BOSS is a high-end fashion mens' clothing store located in the down town area on the mainstreet. The clothing they have is (in my opinion) superb. They have a limited womans line as well. There was a partnership involved and neither of us shed tears the day another entity took it over. Retailing is a tough business.
The following was told to me and is so true -- Being a great sales man does not make you a great retailer, however to be a great retailer, you must also be a great salesman. |

Iracema was in the show at the Wyndham a few years ago. She is very well acquainted with most of the performers in the "Let's Go Latin" Show. In some cases, they studied together. Is she gorgeous - yeahhhhhhhhh If you look on thi web site under places to go etc. you will find that the Wyndham advertises a Tropical Show. They have a picture of three dancers - My wife is the one on the left hand side. They made a massive poster of this same picture and put it on the back of a local bus. We were driving and Junior kept saying Mamie - Mamie and pointing to the window. Took us a while to figure out that he was talking about. charles |

Hi all - Well it's about time I come out of the closet. Oh -That doesn't sound right. My name is Dan"but my 13 year old son calls me BigPapa". Some rap song he listened to had the line"I like it when you call me bigpapa" and that's where he got that. I'm 47 and selfemployed. My wife Georgene"we call her George is 50 and is a RN. I met her when I was 17 and she was 21, right out of nurses training. She has worked at the hospital almost 30years. Surgery and recovery. She is a good woman. I have everything "Money" can't by. My 3 sons"was that a sitcom" years ago are 23"He works with me'-20 "He has worked with me" he is in the Army and always on my mind -then -13 and "he wants to work with me". So thats 3 boys,I wanted a Daughter but it wasn't in the cards. The other part of our family is Buddy he is a 2 year old Boston and Daisy Mae,she is a 8 year old Boston"we adopted her". I had Buddy at the vet and she was there. She had been abused, they said if I wanted to have her I could. if I didn't they weren't sure what they would end up doing. We didn't need another dog. 3 days later,I woke up at 4am. and my very first thought was " Well I don't know whats going to happen to her,but with me she will be ok" and that was that,I never even asked George. That morning I went and got her. It took Daisy over a year to relax. She's a dream. In our off time we are campers. Have a 30ft trailer with 2 slides and it is parked about a hour away from us at a small, very nice campgrounds. when the weather is nice we spend alot of time their. A small fire in the evening is very relaxing. We live about 2to3 hrs. drive from Chicago. It depends on who is driving.Ha My oldest says "thats not camping", I say you can sleep in a tent, your mother and I will sleep in the trailer. When I was growing up on the farm,we had a Boxer"Mitzi" one of the best friends a small boy could ever have. When I think of her"I smile". Wow - when I come out of the closet,I really come. We will be in Aruba Feb.26th for our 1st. visit, and to celebrate our 27th. anniversery. I wish everyone will take the time"if they have someone special in their life" Tell them,we are not given tomorrow. All my best <BigPapa>

OK!!! It's time to "clean" my closet...My name is Kathie..I chose Aprillove for my BB name because I go to Aruba in April and I love it..It's also an old "Pat Boone" song..which pretty much indicates how old I am...57!!! It's not that I have a hard time with that...I just find it hard to believe...I don't act it.. and sometimes I look in the mirror and can't believe what I see...lol...As for the special people in my life...there are too many to mention....I never married because I lost the love of my life to a Vietman related illness...nobody else could compare...I never had children...but that's okay..I'm the oldest of nine...Plenty of diaper changes there!!!...I made up for that as well..I am a "Special Needs School Bus" driver..and last year I started my own company...the rewards and awareness of these childrens needs has paid for itself...I have been lucky enough to become a better person...I don't walk on water...but I sure can swim!!!!!

Hello, My name is Pam and this is my first time on any bb. I'm 46, which my two teenagers think is ancient. My husband Dan in 47. We will be Aruba bound in 6 months. Our first time. This bb is great! I have alot of questions and everyone here seems to have the answers!! Any unanswered questions and I'll post in the general section. (Again, my teenagers think it's cute that mom knows nothing about bb, IM and the like.) We have the opportunity to use a time share at the Marriott. You have all made Aruba sound like a wonderful place. I can't wait for our visit. We live in the Pacific NW and it is cold and wet. When we sell our vending business (kids graduted too) we will relocate to a sunny tropical climate. Hawaii calls, but Aruba is on call waiting

Hello, my name is Michelle and I am an Aruban addict... I became an addict only a few months ago, when my buddies and I all went there for the first time. Yup, now I have a hard time driving by certain houses that sport those superb looking pink flamingos, without my mind wandering back to Aruba!
Sorry, it just struck me so funny, I HAD to do it! My story is rather dull, but it goes something like this... I grew up in Lake George, NY, and went to college in Boston, where I worked as a Physical Therapist for a year after that and met up with my best buddy "Patsy." I Have since moved back home to upstate NY and settled down in Saratoga. I married one of my patients (oooh Baby! ) over ten years ago. My hubby Mike (he calls me "Mickie", hence, the user name) works for the State. I guess now, after that long we'll grow old together! We have a 5 year old Portuguese Water dog baby "Boe" who we live for. We also have a 5 year old cat who was a stray, we named "Alley". I'm soon to be 38, the hubby is 43. No kids, it's not in the cards...If I did, I suppose Patsy and Lisa and I would not have found ourselves "unleashed" in Aruba! Had to add a picture of my baby too! Oh, by the way, we got a PWD cause I wanted a poodle, and He wanted a Lab. Didn't know about "labradoddles" at the time, so ended up with a Portie...all the lab qualities, with hair like a poodle... (non-shedding)http://pic10.picturetrail.com/VOL348...0/46334460.jpg Truth be known, My hubby has no interest in Aruba. : I guesss he was here twenty some odd years ago, and said there really was nothing to do there. He's also deathly afraid to fly. So...for years, Patsy and I have traveled together, and left the guys home. Works for me. : Oh, and by the way, Mike has no idea how much Aruba has to offer now!

Welcome Mickie! Lucky you, that you get to go to Aruba with the "girls"!
Your dog is a sweetie. I have 2 cats - a big 8 year old Persian male Figgie and a tiny stray my daughter brought home "Frankie" (thought she was a boy. $400 later in spaying and declawing fees, I learned differently!) They get along very well, since Figgie is very easy going. I live downstate but vacationed at Lake George almost every year as a child and Saratoga while in college at Plattsburgh. Saratoga was a lovely town! Is the big race track still there? My daughter just had knee surgery and now does PT 2 times a week. I have so much respect for your profession! |

Hello Corrine!
I laughed so to hear that you mistakenly named your female kitten "frankie"...I like that. I guess I also always loved female names like "Sam" and "Bobby" and the like. Glad you stuck with "Frankie". I got some help with the spade job through "Friends of Animals." Still, with the blood work, fla bath and all the necessary shots, I walked away over $200.00 poorer. After that, I told Mike, this outdoor stray better stick around, and now I'm taking her with us to the new house! Yup, she was a "fraidy cat." Typical stray...not friendly with anyone but us. When we had company, no one knew we had a cat. She would run and hide, but always showd up 5 mins after everyone left. She's actually more like seven years old, if I bother to do the math right ![]() Yup, Saratoga Race track is still there. Crazy cause Patsy practicaly spent summers here with us, and we never took her (she's a crazy horse addict). Mike and I always joke that we live only a few minutes away, but have never been (together anyway). The last time I went, was two years ago, with my mother-in-law. I suppose that if we had an hour drive, we would go! Great area to grow up though. My Hubby and I love the fish, and He loves the mountains and hiking. We have a cabin in the Adirondacks, but haven't been there in years, as the house keeps us busy...I wish people didn't have so many problems!

Welcome Mickie....I just had Hip surgery, and I also very much respect your profession...crazy as it seems, I didn't know how I was ever going to walk normal again, until my time with the Physical Therapist!!! You do great work!!
Corrine,, How is Jamie doing with her knee?? |

Had my hip replaced in Switzerland at Clinik Gut in St. Moritz. It is where the down hill skiers go for their replacements. Insurance covered ours 100% (Thank God) and I walk perfectly with no trace whatsoever. Recently I fell while playing with my son and shattered the same femur that was formerly operated on and the local Docs werre amazed at how the hip held up. My therapy was with four other guys that all had knees replaced. They were walking like champs. No wabbles or anything. My surgeon said he is 80% carpenter and the rest doctor. I believe him What a world we live in. charles arubafastphones.com |

April - Jamie's surgery went great and her knee is fine. But, if I could only get this 17 year old to remember to do her exercises every night, I'm sure it would be better! PTs do great work dont they?
Mickie - A cabin in the Adirondacks? How cool is that? I would love to have a little hide a way like that to escape too. It's funny what you said about the racetrack - I have never been to the Statue of Liberty. I guess we take where we live for granted.Frankie is the opposite (but Jamie found her when she was only 1 month old so she is used to people) She loves company and jumps on them and sticks her nose in their food! Must work on this or no one will come over anymore! |

Corrine- I can speak for teens only from experience, I was one once, and even though that was a hundred years ago, I remember it all too well, the days when I knew EVERYTHING!!!! lol I have to admit though, I too was a little lax with the excercises for my hip until the PT'S got a hold of me...and then I realized that my recovery would move along much faster if I just caved in and DID THEM....Tell Jamie...the sooner she recovers...the sooner she gets to go to the MaLL!!

Oh my gosh! I didn't mean to brush the surgery under the table! I guess I didn't realize how recent this is, and that you're dealing with this right now. I so hope she recovers 100% Don't worry, that's totally "Normal" for an adolescent (not to do exercises). I think she's missing the "WHY" part. Well...here goes... Even though she may be an active girl, it's important to continue regularly with striaght leg raises, and the like. These exercises help to isolate the 4 quadriceps muscles to restore full strength to the knee. Woman are more prone (It seems in my opionion) to medial quadriceps weakness. With the help of E-stim, PT's will try to restore the balance, or improve balance that was missing, but without the home program, it's much lass effective. She needs to do them to encourage "carryover". If not, weakness in specific muscle groups may lead to the beginning of a lifetime of knee problems which may ultimately lead to subsequent surgeries when she's older..(to delay the TKR) and finally Total knee. Not too scare you, but when you can refriegn from this kind of outcome with early intervention...why not? I would love to take credit for, but have to admit, The PT alone, is not a miracle worker. I believe the outcome is dependent on what the patient and the PT can achieve together. However, without the exercise program, you're almost wasting your copayment...no matter if arthroscopic, or especially open ACL tear. April: You sound so much like a woman I know of about your young age, (a patient) she's never been married either, no kids, and living a great life. when I read "welcome" I thought of her. She's an absulute "Scream" She's vibrant, and makes me laugh every time she comes in...so genuine, and a short haired blonde like you! okay...I'm the "girl in the middle, in picture #6"!! " Lol!

Mickie...UMMM the girl in the picture hey?? Nice to know my "younger twin" is a succesful PT>>>..and you under-estimate your worth...PT's ARE miracle workers!!! Just being able to explain those excercises is a hidden talent...My Physical Therapist was a riot...She would have me do the exercises, and we proceeded to talk about everything else,,boyfriends..vaca...movies..food shopping etc...the next thing I knew the hour would be over and I would be skipping out the door...after 4 years of limping (one leg shorter than the other, not Now) I am walking like a normal person (whatever that is)...
Isn't Patsy from the Boston area??? where abouts..me too |

Charles...that's a funny story....I actually have a card that I got from the DR's office stating that I might be ringing off some serious bells at the airport..I held one of the hip replacements (I know what the other word is ...but no way am I going to attempt to spell it) in my hand...it is titainium...good weight about 2 1/2 pounds (good deduction from my scale too!!)

Too funny Charles! I guess we won't be running into you in the airport anymore!
Karen-- keep smiling. You'll be back to yourself in no time. Certain hip precautions are lifted by some M.D's...in time. But crossing the leg's probably not ever... !
