Thought I'd start a new thread so the clever folks who brought cameras could post pics or links and we could all post thoughts.

Hubby and I went down for just the Happy Hour and dinner. We quickly learned that this board has one heck of a great bunch of people.

Started off in the Dizzy Dolphin Bar where everyone had already gathered (Though half the crowd was outside on the boards. Not hidden enough. We found them anyway.) We were introduced all around and I went up to the bar to get one margarita and one Dewars rocks. I left the bar 23 dollars lighter. (And we complain about the price of drinks in Aruba?). In defense of the pricing my margarita was the size of a hot tub and had THREE thingies in it: a straw, a swizzle stick, and a six inch surfboard.


Apparently some time earlier Donna had spilled her drink. Then, as Tom was explaining something to me he gestured dramatically and spilled Donna's new drink for her. It's always nice to see a hubby so helpful.

We eventually tottered off to the buffet where Meek(?), Mild Mannered(?) Moderator Sherry had reserved a table for us. The food was very good indeed but it wasn't about the food. It was about the company.

At our end of the table Sherry entertained with upcoming wedding stories and Chris had Corrine and me in stitches.

Kevin had the good idea that everyone should switch seats along the way so we could connect with different people. Since it was a good idea, and since it was us, it never happened. We were all too involved with the folks we were near.

After dinner we dispersed. Hubby and I and Sherry tried our luck at the slots. (lost) Others went off to their rooms to watch some sort of game involving a ball.

We all had a great time!

Sounds like everyone had a good time - wish I could have been there.

I forgot we were supposed to switch seats! Yes, it was really a great time (and that margarita WAS the size of a tub!). I only have a couple of pictures I will post soon. Murray took a few and Liz took alot.

This morning we went to breakfast at the regular restaurant as the buffet was closed. Excellent breakfast was had by all, Kevin made sure everyone's plate was clean at the end. Steve and I went to Sherry and Murray's room for a while and then left and had an easy ride home. Chris, I hope you didnt hit traffic from the Jet game! (and I enjoyed talking with you about the "only child syndrome").

Count me in on the only's. That is unless you count the other 5 siblings that I have. Only 2 that I actually know; 1 I met at my dad's funeral; and 2 that I have never laid eyes on. Yeah, I'm an only.

Must be an interesting story, that. Actually I recently learned that I do have a half sister who doesn't know I exist. She's a year older than I.

Yes, I always say I should write a book of my life...I might make a buck two ninety eight on it!! lol. Easier to talk about now...but as a child not so much.
Do you intend to follow up and try to meet this newly found relative?

No. I'm her dad's daughter. My mother was his student. HER mother was married to our dad. (I was adopted out of this scenario, thank goodness)
No sense in ruining her idea of her father (who taught HS Latin and History, has an archeological museum with his artifacts and is still refered to as "doc" by the townsfolk. A saint, my father )

You and I must have had polar opposite experiences. I thought my family life was as it appeared until I was in my thirties and discovered the truth. Thus I have no childhood complaints.

Mame...I found out about some (not all) things at 16. One day after I turned 16 to be exact. The day my father left my mother. So I had alot of time to learn the awful truth that is my life. Thank God for my mother (who is a saint that was wronged) in my opinion. I did and still do have some great and not so great memories of my life growing up and have learned that you don't dwell on things you cannot change and try to live the best life you can. You only get one shot and it is a short one...so no prolonged anguish here. Just figure it is what it is and move along. Anyway, we got your thread hijacked. Back to the AC group and how I wished I could have gotten there. Hopefully one day I will meet you all in person.

Yeah...about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. It is about a 6 hour drive for us to AC. I am not a big fan of long drives. Wasn't only the drive that kept us from the trip..what with just getting home from our vaca two weeks ago and holidays coming and starting to try to plan a Vegas trip for a wedding next year...something has to be left for next time. Someday though...
