Default Amadeus

We went there last night with another couple and were greatly disappointed because of the great reviews that have been posted about this restaurant lately. I don't do reviews much but our experience
differed so much that others had - I thought I should share.

We were glad we had made reservations because they were busy. Place is small
and they were busy but nothing that should have 'bogged' them down. There was a lot of staff working. We had requested separate checks up before we ordered.

My friends ordered the leek soup which they liked. I had a Caesar salad.
It was okay. My girl friend and I had each ordered the coconut shrimp as
our main course and they put both orders on one plate. So we had to
wait a time for them to put them on two plates. Had to ask for bread.
When our meals arrived, the waiter never came back asked if our food
was okay. My friend had ordered the Wiener Snitzel which he found extremely
tough. The next time we saw our waiter it was just to see if we wanted
desert. Had to wait forever for our deserts - which he had not put the
order in.

I had personally been looking forward to the 'creme puffs' that had
great reviews. Mine were semi frozen. At the end of our meal,
(we had requested separate checks up front) the waiter couldn't find our 'tickets'
and had to go thru every thing we ordered.

All and all I can not recommend this place.

ArubaMillie.... I wouldn't let one negative review stand in your parent's way of enjoying a wonderful meal. See other's reviews on the other bb's and restaurantaruba.com.

I have eaten there twice in November - and is at the top of my list for our 20th trip in May. See reviews from Liz and SanNic44 -with the exception of a "smoking" concern (which has been fixed to non-smoking), reviews have all been excellent. Hope you will enjoy.

I ate at Amadeus twice... and, thought it was wonderful as did the others I was with. The first time I had the grouper, and the second time the weiner schnitzel, and don't have a complaint about either meal. I also had the escargot which was made differently, and very good! The first visit we ate on the first floor, and the second, upstairs. We felt badly for the waitstaff having to run up and down the steps, but they joked about how they didn't mind, and how it kept them in shape.

Both nights, the staff was extremely attentive. In fact, I ordered a sea breeze and when the bill came saw that they charged $9.50... and broke down the bill as to the vodka, grapefruit juice and cranberry juice. Before I even had a chance to question it, the waitress came back to tell me that it was a mistake, and gave me a new check charging me $6.50 for my drink. The first night there were four of us requesting three separate checks, and the second night... three of us requesting two checks which we got with no issues.

There's no smoking until 10 PM, and I assume by that time, it's more a bar crowd then an eating crowd.

I was wondering how they were going to handle the N/S policy. They do a very nice bar business later at night with karaoke - though we always left by that time. We go there just for the food

Now I'm dreaming about the escargots, and the weiner schnitzel..... and a shot of the Double Espresso VanGoh vodka with my coffee - it's a good thing!!

We ate at this wonderful restaurant while on the island two weeks ago and really enjoyed what we had. Will definitely return in May!

Here I am in chilly New England and my mouth is watering for the delicious food I enjoyed at Amadeus. It is one of my favorites, and I will definitely look forward to returning in February.
