Went to Rumba's in April with my husband & sister. It is on the street behind the Renaissance Marina Hotel and Mall.

It is an open air restaurant. Tables inside and outside. We decided on inside.

Charlie (my husband) and my sister really like the place as it had good prices. I thought it was just o.k. I think I didn't enjoy it as much as them as I am not a fish eater which they had alot of fish entrees on their menu. Plus we went near the end of our stay and I "was eaten out". So full from great meals.

From 1 to 10, I would give Rumba's a 5.

You can check out their website at http://www.rumba-aruba.com

Like ArubaAmy we love Rumba's for both lunch and dinner. We always make it a point to have at least one lunch and one dinner on every trip.

For lunch they have great sandwiches and salads. Our favorite sandwich is the Ranch sandwich, which is steak, onion, mushrooms, and bacon served on a white or wheat pistolet. On our last trip, I had a bowl of their creamy tomato soup followed by the beef carpaccio salad plate, and it was excellent.

We enjoy their steaks and rack of lamb from the grill, as well as their garlic shrimp. However, our favorite entree for dinner is their coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp used to be a special of the day, but everyone kept requesting it so they added it to the menu.

We always go to Rumbas for lunch on our shopping days. Love the chocolate mousse with whipped cream. It is delicious.

Thumbs up Re: Rumba Bar and Grill

We joined Sherry-Murray-Mafalda @ Rumba's on our last night in Aruba 8/20.
Dinner was delicious, fairly priced and the presentation was very attractive.

IMO, Rumba is way up there and now rated evenly with MJs for price, taste and presentation.

YUM

No Corrine..it's on the street behind the mall. Went there this trip and I have to say it was great. Loved the little girl that waited on us and the place is very quaint. We too wondered what we were going to eat, as the menu is full of bounty from the sea, but...we tried the Chicken Calebrese Al Forno...it was wonderful. It was chicken breasts(grilled), layered with mozzarella cheese and fresh tomatoes that is then baked in the oven so the cheese melts all over. It is then served on a bed of steamed veggies and you get a little frying pan side of Dutch au gratin potatoes. To die for. Will definately be making Rumba's a place to eat each visit.

Our last night in Aruba, WHERE TO GO?! We decided on Rumba, another new restaurant for us this time. And we were not disappointed!! We made reservations for 8:30 because of a show at Costa Linda we wanted the kids to see (limbo guy)....it was nearly empty when we arrived, but that soon changed! Fantastic table inside, right in front of the "chef window", my oldest (4) loves to cook, so he and the chef had quite a few conversations...lol! Service was fantastic!!! The kids had pasta with "white sauce", which was just so creamy and wonderful, they ate it up! I had a chicken dish (can't remember the name), but it was chicken breast, tomato, chicken and then cheese, served with au gratin potatoes (melt in your mouth wonderful) and the other two had the seafood trio, and neither was impressed with it. One of the waitresses brought the boys out a nice little treat after dinner....a chocolate mousse mouse, complete with chocolate chip nose/eyes, chocolate syrup tail.......it was great, they enjoyed it so much. The staff here was just phenominal...very attentive, and really made the kids feel special....always a plus for me. We will eat here again and again!!!

My wife and I decided to drive downtown, find a parking space and then a restaurant. We parked in the marina lot and then walked through the mall to Rumba's. The outside tables were empty and there was one table occupied inside, so having no reservations was not a problem.

Our appetizers were good; the tomato soup was absolutely delicious. Our main courses were not nearly as good. My wife had a tuna dish, which she said was OK. I had surf and turf. Ok, I'll take the blame for not finding out more about the dish. I expected decent sized tenderloin and a lobster tail with drawn butter. What I got was a small tenderloin (no more than 4 ounces) over top a lobster-veggie mix. I did not care for the lobster-veggie mix but that is just by opinion. Probably nothing wrong with it, I just did not like it. The tenderloin is a different story. Besides being small, it was as tough as nails and barely edible. Despite the good chocolate mousse dessert, I don't think we will be returning here.

Had dinner here last week, they offer a special, salad, entree and dessert for $19.99.

Fodd was outstanding, salads were great, pasta carbonara that was as good as I have ever had and chocolate mousse for dessert! Highly recommended!

We discovered Rumba in May. Love it and are looking forward to returning in September. Coconut shrimp outstanding and rack of lamb was so good that my husband now refuses to order it anywhere else on the island. It was the freshest he's ever had in Aruba and didn't have that "lamby" taste or smell. One of our favorites now. Very casual dining and I don't think they require reservations. Had no trouble parking in the marina lot across from the hotel.

here i am ranting about this place again. we were headed into town and an aruban friend called to ask what we were doing for lunch. suddenly we were heading for rumba in a totally unplanned move.

another perfect 10. two of us had the ranch sandwich which is tenderloin, bacon, mushrooms and a large salad, lol, on your choice of breads. 3 had the special which was tilapia stuffed with shrimp and other good stuff on your choice of breads. one person had cream of mushroom soup and we all had beverages. $57 plus tip was a bargain for this wonderful lunch.

Sherry -
I noticed on your trip report that you talked about having the linguine with lobster from Rumba. Was this the Pasta Aragosta - lobster with cream sauce? Was it a sherry cream sauce or more of garlic cream sauce?

Also - thanks for the detailed trip report! It was fun to read and made me even more excited for my trip in October!

yes it was tha aragosta. it was garlic cream sauce and it was to die for (or as my friend mafalda says... to live for). if you have time, you must get there. i feel like a walking advertisement for the place. in two visits to aruba we have eaten 3 dinners and 2 lunches at rumba. every other place got one visit each except brisas del mar which was super food. in fact the manager of rumba gave us directions one night (there was a detour) and admitted that was his wife's favorite restaurant.

glad you weren't bored to death with my report. it was probably more fun to write than to read, lol.

Thumbs up Rumba Great Food-Greater Staff

Rumba Bar&Grill opened about 5 years ago and we have made it a yearly dining experience ever since. This is not just a Bar$Grill but a first class restaurant. The menu is extensive when you take into account that the fish entrees have a choice of 5 unique deleicious sauses and the beef entrees have a choice of 6 sauses to complement your entree. At our last visit on Feb. 21 we were treated to a dish of white salmon from the waters of Argentina. This was the best seafood dish I have ever had anywhere in the world. I thank Ricky our waiter for the suggestion. As usual we ended our meal with the "to die for" choclate mousse. As usual we are never disappointed by our favorite restaurant in Aruba. After leaving the restaurant and returning to our hotel I had a message from Rumba Bar&Grill. It seems that when I payed our bill by Travler Check, 2 checks were stuck together. I signed one check and put our resort on the back of the second check. Ricky our waiter took the time to notify us of this mistake and returned our check. Like I've said before "great food" , "greater staff. I have heard that Rumba Bar&Grill will be moving to Casa Del Mar in June under a new name "Matthews". We will be there next Feb..

Actually, the owners of Rumba Bar & Grill are opening a new restaurant by the name of Matthew's Beachside restaurant and indeed it will be in Casa Del Mar.

Rumba isn't moving, they are just expanding

Since Rumba is one of your favorite places, you (and a lot of others!) will be happy to know that they have joined the VisitAruba Plus program!

They now offer a 10% discount on food to all VisitAruba Plus Card members. The discount has been printed in the new 2007 VisitAruba Plus booklet and will soon be posted on the restaurants section of VisitAruba Plus.

i wish we could vote more than once on a restaurant. i know this place would keep getting 10's. we had wonderful food, i had a chicken dish that i will have to look up the name of and murray ate filet. the prices were more than reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. this is one of our must do restaurants every trip.
