Thumbs up Just Got Back From The Mill

This was my first time in Aruba. I was hesitant at staying here because the price seemed to good to be true compared to the other hotels.
heres the scoop for anyone considering the MIll

great low rise hotel in high rise location moderatley priced.

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT HOTEL:

1. the people. great from bartender, waiter, housekeeper to DJ.

2. location. across from beach. very short walk. The mill has a stand there with chairs and towels for you. Dont need to pay high price to be close to beach or town with restuarants, shops etc. A SHORT WALK TO EVERYTHING!

3. the rooms are great, you get a balcony and a jacuzzi or a suite witth eat in kitchen.

4. the pool. nice size. plenty of room, chairs, towels.

5. breakfast buffet and the BBQ night. very reasonable and quite good.

6. entertainment. I went to several highrises with casinos and nothing was going on at night. it was pitch black in fact. The mill has DJ, dancing, contests etc. My boyfriend and I won a few free meals. T-shirts and drinks. It was a fun place to stay.

OK THE NOT SO GREAT PART

1. meals. the lunch and dinner menu are small. theres no snacks like nachos, icecream, hotdogs by pool bar. you basically have sit down meals only. not much selection. we ate out alot. they have a meal plan but we weren't interested in the menu

2. key. my bfriend likes to play golf while i go to beach. we needed an extra key. they promised to get us one day after day and never did. we had to go all week with one key. I will say that the girl we were dealing with at front desk seemed very new. she didnt know about phonecard of local attractions etc.

3. renovation. they Mill got hit hard after hurricane. they are re-doing first floor. they have one side of hotel closed off. It didnt effect the beautiful pool and bar set up. the rest of hotel was fine. the construction was not loud. far away enough so you dont have to hear it.

would i sTay there again? YES. for the $ it was more than worth it. Just know that i will be dining out more than in.
Its a fun friendly place.

i will have pictures Friday if anyoneis interested email me

Glad to hear you had a great time. We'd love to see the pictures too! We stayed there in June 2003. We really liked it too... only thing we didn't like was the trek to the beach. We felt really odd having to go through the Wyndham to get to the Mills beach... unless that's changed?

Good Morning to you all:

I am very glad you all had an excellent vacation in the beautiful island of Aruba and most important at The Mill Resort & Suites.

Your comments are very important to us and we greatly appreciate both positive and negative in order to improve our hotel.

Just a few questions and/or answers on the below comments:

Meals: The menu does offer items such as ice cream, hot dogs & others appetizers which you can enjoy at the pool bar. Did anyone at the bar and/or restaurant not offer this service? Also, please give me some ideas on items we should add to our menu.

Keys: You're absolutely right and this issue has been addressed many times without good results. Please send me an email with your name, trip date and I will investigate what happen and seek an immediate solution to this problem. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Renovation: Yes, we are renovating 43 units completely and also other work is being done around the property to better serve our guest. Although we are doing our best to keep both the noise and debris to a minimum, once again accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

These units will have all new furniture, Kitchens, bathrooms, appliances and other fixtures. We have planned to continue renovating 25 units per quarter and this project should be finished by the end of 2006. We have also upgraded our restaurant with new chairs, tables and equipment to better serve our guest. On September 30th, the main & kiddy pool will be closed for four weeks to undergo a full renovation which will include; new tiles, edges & diamond brite coating. The waterfall pool will be done in mid 2006. Also, due to the past flooding, we have been working with both local & US architects and experts on flooding prevention for a solution for our property.

I look forward to more feedback and comments that will help us improve our property and ultimately to better serve our guest.

Best Regards,

Edmond Karam, Jr.

One more reason to stay at this hotel! They do care on how your experience was and they are always looking to make it better. The fact that my post was read and replied to in such a detailed manner is much appreciated. Cant wait to see you May 2006!
