When driving around on the island I see the little outlets selling lottery tickets. Some of these advertise some significant amounts of money to be won. I am wondering if anyone has bought tickets and also if anyone has won anything?

I do know of a local that won a few years ago. Bought a Harley, car, jewerly and partied for a long time.

I think he might have been the one killed on his motorcycle a couple of years ago on the Sasaki Hwy.

We never bought lottery tickets, but some of our guests have.
They bought them at the Texaco station and later asked the clerk to check if they were winners...so we/they didn't really understand how the system works.
We do occasionally see lottery drawings for the "daily number" type lottery on the Aruba TV station 13.

Yes I have played and won. The only problem is that no matter where you try to check your tickets, you get that "the machine doesnt work" or something similar to that. So even if you win "big", good luck trying to collect your winnings.

I played many many times while living in Aruba from 92-2000 and never had any problems collecting my winnings....I always went back to where I bought my tickets and was always paid immediately, even the time I won 2,000 USD's.....I had far better luck with the island lottery than I have in 9 years here in the USA !!!!

In looking at the photos of the winners on the website, and the table of draw results, some of those prizes are big for a place like Aruba. Is the lottery restricted to locals?
