Default Aruba trivia question.

What was the name of the restaurant that was on the second floor of the alhambra casino? Clue: it was named after a city in the U.S.
If you have an aruba trivia question please post it.

I'll post the next Trivia question: What was the name of the popular club in the late 80's/early 90's before it burned down?

hi corrine, unfortunately they broke the mold when it closed up. the new york deli was the place for those after hours munchies. many nites we met there. no matter where we were on the island, we seemed to all meet there. they had the best original deli food. we were all very sad when they closed. i would compare it to the stage deli in the city.

Didn't the NY Deli remodel a store in the Seaport Mall... I remember about 5 years ago seeing signs in a store front that it was coming... We kept checking and checking and it never opened, and we couldn't understand why!!

ok, those of you who have gone to the original twinklebones might remember this. there were 2 dinner shows every night, at the end of every show they played a recording in which everyone got up including the waiters in a line and danced throughout the restaurant. what was the song and who sang it?

dv... the only reason I remember is that we got all excited that a deli was reopening... I can't exactly place where it was. Want to say it was somewhere on the first floor behind the steps to Iguana Joe's. Maybe someone else will remember.

I don't remember... but funny story about Twinklebones. We were there for dinner one night and there was a group of people from NY at the next table, at least 12 people. All of a sudden we heard what sounded like shots, and dust started coming down from the ceiling right above the NY table. Two ladies got the dust in their eyes and ran into the bathroom screaming, but of course we thought they were wounded so we all crawled under the table! The police were called, and several "detectives" came in to question everyone. I've never seen such laid back cops in my life. It was worth a few laughs. Bottom line is that someone had indeed shot a few rounds off above the roof, but we never found out why. No one was offered a free drink or anything else, especially those two ladies. All these years later we still talk about the time we "got shot" at Twinklebones!!!

ok, i've got one for everyone. and i have to admit, i don't remember the name either so this trivia question needs to be answered by someone before it drives me crazy.

what was the name of the buffet restaurant at the back of the alhambra shopping center?

candy and i ate there one time when murray was off diving. once was enough. it was the worst of the worst. well, maybe not worse than the peruvian restaurant or the 'other' german restaurant. does anyone remember either name. both places lasted 6 months and when the german restaurant closed the peruvian opened in its place. gag!

Wink Re: Aruba trivia question.

Languages...there is no set number of languages Aruban speak. My late Aruban husband spoke 4 fluently and some of our neighbors spoke 5 or 6 languages. My husband spoke Dutch, Portugese, Spanish, Papaimento, English and some French. I'ts amazing how they can flow from one language to another sometimes in the same conversation if a few different nationalites are around. My late husband was a scuba dive instructor for Unique Sports and I used to watch him teach cerifications or resort classes in 2 sometime 3 languages in the same class !!!!

So the answer to the language question would vary from Aruban to Aruban !

No one acknowledged the answer to the other Trivia question about what night club burned down in the 90's.......it was Club Visage....man that place had alot of drama up in there......someone was always finding someone's spouse in there with someone they shouldn't have been in there with....personally the locals were relieved when it burned down.....there was alot of scandal about that fire.....it recked of an insurance scam...!!!

seashelldiver, thanks much for the detailed explanation on the languages. i did read somewhere that french was also spoken but was not certain of it. it has always amazed me that the aruban people speak all those languages and learn them at a very young age. a wonderful testament to their intelligence.

that's an ok cheat dv. the heidelburg was so terrible and the manager stood over you with this look like 'if you don't eat this garbage i will hurt you'. i swear he was the manager in different clothing of machu pichu because it had the same atmosphere. plus since every meal had the little suckers on it of squid (or is it octopus?) and i knew i couldn't get past it i asked if my meal could be made without. he said 'of course'. naturally my meal came with double those little sucker things of anyone else's and my portion was the largest and the #$% snickered. we passed the word quickly to people not to go there. we also decided if any other restaurant opened in that spot we would not try it, lol.
