Default Cruising Guide to Aruba Now Available on the Web

A cruising guide to Aruba is now available on the web.

The guide was developed based on questions and remarks received from those who visited Aruba by boat. One often heard remark was that one was told that Aruba could just as well be bypassed on the way to Colombia, but once cruisers stopped in Aruba they found it to be a very pleasant surprise. The friendliness of the people, the efficiency of the officials, ample provisions, and the beauty of the island made the visit worthwhile.
This guide was made to make the island more accessible to cruisers and maybe do some exploring of the island while here. The sailing directions in the guide are based on recent information explored on a 6 ft. draft boat under sail.

Merel!

Appreciate your input regarding "Aruba Cruising!" I understand a minority of posters here don't wish to promote Cruise tourism, yet our Cruise friends contribute much revenue to the Arabian economy.

Mr Manzanita & I met 2 lovely women last year from a cruise, & shared our 15+ year experiences with them, which prompted them to venture into the Arabian economy!

We have friends that are on a sailing cruise in the Carribean right now since the Spring of 2010. They were told not to try to go to Aruba as the winds were just too strong across the top of South America. Do not know how they got to Panama.

Oh, I like this comment in the guide re: sunsets:
"Sunsets occur daily. Whether you get to see it is another matter. You should look for it though, just to make sure it sets properly."

I'm usually still on the beach or on my evening walk at sunset, and I always look for it, even if there's low clouds, just to see if there will be a break just between the clouds and the horizon.

Oh, is this is not a CRUISE SHIP tourism guide, but a guide for people cruising in sail or motor boats. Let's not knock the cruise ships; the shops downtown are really hurting now that the Paseo mall has drawn business away from tourists in the high-rise area who now don't have any special reason to go downtown.
