Wink Fastphones

Hi everyone,
First I want to extend my gratitude for all the wonderful information you have provided.

I read many recommendations regarding ArubaFastPhones and decided to contact them for our September visit. I wanted 2 phones but had a few questions prior to committing to a reservation. I can't tell you how frustrated I have become. Instead of answering my questions I keep getting the same email stating that my reservations are confirmed (4 times). How can they be confirmed when they don't even know what I want???

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding who else I can reserve 2 phones with?

Thanks so much

Dear Christine,
As sometimes happens, we misundertood your reservation to be a reservation since it was on a reservation sheet. We did not realize you had questions to be answered. We apologize for this.

When we got your (Partially shown below) mail, we responded (also partially shown below) and were awaiting your response.

There is a list of other cell rental companies and if you would like, I can PM those to you. Some are less expensive than we are.

In the meantime, please note that from my side, it is so much more important that your vacation is a pleasant one and that you enjoy your stay on Aruba.

If there is anything that I can do to help you further, please let us know.

be well
charles

BELOW ARE EXERPTS FROM OUR CORESPONDENCE.

Hallo Christine,
Yes the minutes in the 2 weeks plan are inlcuded to call to the USA ...

OUR TEXT TAKEN OUT BY ME .............

I hope I answered all your questions.
Have a nice day,
Sherene

Thank you for your response. I can certaintly understand a misunderstanding. It is unfortunate that I had to email 4 times to get a response (I asked each time).

I did reserve 2 phones and I am crossing my fingers that what I requested will be what I get.

Have a wonderful day

Thank you for the understanding the misunderstanding. This occasionally happens since we receive quite some mail daily and human error plays an active role (so says MURPHY IN HIS LAW)
In any event, rest assured that it will be properly handled.

Please remember that (as I said and meant) the main focus is to enjoy your vacation and we want to be an active part of that process.

be well
charles

Not to step on Charles' turf (and I confident he will clarify if required... )
but, yes, the minutes can be used to call the US at the 24 cents/min
rate. My wife was able to do so when we'd used ArubaFastphones
during her "girls' week" visit earlier this year.

Hello Charles,

Am I correct that the minutes purchased apply to both local and international calls? It doesn't take a lot to confuse me.

When I rented a cell in Aruba (from fastphones) - it cost more to call another Aruba cell #. Not sure how much to a U.S. cell #.

The .24 per minute is applicable to the USA, CANADA and some other countries.

Those special prrices make it cheaper than roaming

Cell to cell traffic is variable.
Cell to USA = 24 Period.
Cell to Canada - 19.5
Fastphone cell to other Fastphone cell is .24
Fastphone cell to SETAR cell = .29

Like with all other cell companies, there are promotions which can lower the avbove rates substantially, however it would make no sense to quote that here, besides, we have little warning as to when a special on rates will be run.

be well
charles

Christine - I have rented 2 phones from Charles in the past. With 2 teenage girls, it was well worth it! There was never any extra charges. This year I rented one phone and brought along my own Verizon wireless. I had tons of charges from Verizon - $1.29 a minute plus $45 internation fees. It was a better deal to rent 2 phones. We called both local and the US. Plus, it is easy to check your minutes right on the phone!

Last year Joanne at Timeshare Storage told me to call her on her office # (which would be cheaper) as that it would be 54 cents for me to call on my Aruba cell to her cell.

P.S. I keep looking for you Charles at your booth at the airport. I can never find you. Are you hiding. LOL. I did tell the girl at your booth on July 4 when I came in to tell you that I said hi.

Hi Liz,
She gave me the message just as they give me all messages. For a while I was calling back to say thank you for asking for me but stopped because folks would mostly say something like -

"Charles? - Ohh yess the phone and snippet guy - right?

"Yeah I just called to ..."
"Well OK and thanks for calling and gotta go ok? bye - click"

Folks are here to do many things such as relax. Charles is not exactly a 'headliner'

Besides that, we have been busy with the opening of our Paseo Herencia Location as well as our multiple DIVI locations.

Work work work - does not (I repeat NOT) keep you young. It lets' you know just how damned old you are.

By the way, it is sometimes confusing on the rates down here because many local folks think in our currency. US dollar to Afl is a 1.77 ratio exchange.

be well Liz

Same here. But I did tell his representative to tell Charles I said hello this past June.

We've rented from Charles 2 or 3 times and have nothing but positive things to say. The Modowon feature now available on his phones is a great tool, especially if you aren't familiar with the island.
The only beef I have is that the wife spends WAY too much time on the phone. Oh well.

Thanks much! We decided to go with the 2 phones also. I don't know why but for me figuring out the phones was the most difficult part of my planning. If this works out, which I believe it will, I will be all set for next years trip

MODO-WON is a hand held smart phone that has practically all of the information needed to book restaurants and multiple other activities and events. It took off like crazy and now will not only be available at the airport but at Paseo Herencia and Divi (Tamarijn internet shop) as well.

The phone is easy to use and has clear intructions on all of its functions including Wi-fi as well as BLUE TOOTH and internet access. you can (as an example)
Go to the Restaurant section
Choose what type of food
Choose a restaurant
Look at the menu of the restaurant you choose
Touch a button and it calls the establishment and you make your reservation.

DIVI has chosen to make our services available to all their guests with a special DIVI page as well as all of the other information.
Some foks have said it looked complicated but when tried it - said it works easier than a regular cell phone and has more information.

It is designed to enhance your vacation and cut down on concierge waiting lines and other time 'wasters' < Is that a word? if not I vote we make it one..

be well
charles

On my last couple of trips to Aruba I would see people on cell phones on the beach, by the pool, shopping, etc. , and I would wonder why they were using cell phones on vacation. I would think that part of being on vacation is to get away from it all (work, school, appointments, stress, errands, and yes cell phones). Well now I'm going to have to give in because on our next trip in 2008 I will be bringing my son's friend with us and I want to make sure that I know where they are at all times!!!

It makes you wonder how people raising children in generations past ever lived without cell phones. I'm a nervous-reck parent with my children having them. I don't know how I would survive without cell phones for my kids, but hey my parents did. So I will be looking you up Charles in 2008.

Thank you arubaxox,
well ... my parents did it without cell phones as well however they simply threatened me within an inch of my life and here we use the metric system so ...
Anyway, kids can sue parents nowadays so a cell phone is as good a way as any to threaten them within a centimeter of their lives.

I walked into my 6th graders class orientation on Thursday and saw TWO different six grade students (standing next to their parents) talking on their cell phones and thought to myself "WHAT????????????". Dh assures me they will not be able to bring those phones to school once school begins on Monday.

Okay Mr. MODO-WON , so you are saying that if we stay at the Tamarijn we can just make our dinner reservations for say the Red Parrot or Ginger via MODO-WON? From what I understand from these bulletin boards, the only way to get a reservation was to stand in line at the concierge desk first thing every morning. Anything else special for the guests of the Tamarijn that it would offer besides the island activities etc.?

Also what is the charge on island to call MODO-WON to MODO-WON. Any discounts for 3 of them?

Thank you for being such a patient man. A true Aruban in every sense.

Hi Lisa,
What I am saying is that the communications platform we have designed will currently let you know everything there is to know about DIVI which includes their specific outlets. Those units (phones) will be DIVI dedicated and have DIVI info as easiest access. All of the other information will still be there on the menu exactly as it is now, but DIVI info will be a tad easier to get. That said, it is always up to the advertising customer to let us know just how far into their system we go and to facilitate that.
Is MODO-WON capable of doing as you suggested? Yes. But Divi , or any of the other companies we service, has to give us that entry posibility.
As you go through the icons, you will come across varios restaurants and all you need to do is to go to the the one you like, look at the offering and push the little "Phone Dial" button. It automatically makes the call for you and you make the reservation.

So as to not get overly commercial openly in an informational BB, I will PM you - OK? That way we can respect the rest of the guys.

be well
charles

Patience is a virtue so hurry the hell up so I can be virtuous... LOL
