Would like to find out what is your favorite entree at your favorite restaurant in Aruba. I am going on my 10th trip in Feb. and am visiting Madame Jan. for the 1st time and thought it would be interesting to find out visitors favorite entrees.
Thanks, Mary Ann |

My alltime favorite is actually or WAS actually at MJ's. It was Lobster Thermidor and from what I understand, they have taken it off the menu and I am one unhappy person about it.

I like the Surf & Turf or the Pork Corden Blu. Both are very good. Then again anything at M.J. is great. Last year one of my friends had the rack of lamb and said it was excellent.
Hope this helps. Nat |

Both my wife and I have to have the "Rack of Lamb" at the Chalet Suisse at least once each season.

Favorite dish: Chalet Suisse Rack of Lamb for hubby and me as well.
But I do think the chef at MJ's is the best on the island. JMHO |

Almond Crusted Grouper over spinach-at MJ's-EXCELLANT!!! And, of course, the potato casserole to go with it. Every time we go to MJ's I say I am going to try something else, buttttt, I always end up with the Grouper. It is just melt in your mouth delicious.

Sorry to be so boring but...my favorite is Wahoo ANYWHERE in Aruba as long as they grill or broil it with lemon for me.
I do have some favorite appetizers: Keri-Keri (ravioli stuffed with shredded Barracuda served in a red bell pepper sauce) at Gasparito Spicy Crab Cakes at Madame Janette's French Onion Soup with Goat Cheese (served in a bread bowl) at Bingo Hubby's favorite entree has been the same for over 10 years now - the Seafood Keshi Yena at Gasparito.

Keeshi Yena at the Promenade is my favorite appetizer. Don't have a favorite entree, but my three favorite restaurants are the Promenade, Tai Mahal and Rumba.
My favorite desert is the apple pie at Rumba! |

The duck at Chalet Suisse with extra sauce. Sometimes it is orange sauce and sometimes cherry, etc. I always have the same thing - Escargot to start, Duck and then the Chocolate Fondue with all fruit!!!! Yum!!!

My choice would have to be MJ's, but I can't choose between the surf and turf and the almond encrusted grouper. OK, the surf and turf. Steak and lobster and huge shrimp and taters = YUM!
Chris, in Sept MJ's still had the lobster thermidor on the menu, so if they've removed it it must have happened recently...

My fav. is one from Don Carlo's. To start they have a wonderful house dressing and the most crisp salad I have ever ever had!!! Don't know how they do it but its always so cold and crisp!!!
As my Entree I always get this fish dish w/macaroni that comes in a tin foil boat and they open it at the table and the aroma of garlic is incredible. Its just shrimp(s), clams, mussels, calamari and maybe a fish in a garlic and oil over linquini but the way they steam it in the foil boat is well, to die for. (has an actual name but can't think of it, it on the Chef's special creation part) I had a man jump up from a nearby table to come and look and smell my food last time there. Kinda grossed me out but was comical. I think my second choice is the onion soup at Tulips...don't know if its the 2.90 price or the taste that I like best, but sure is good!!! OOOHHHH one more...The Seafood Hot & Sour soup at Blossoms.... UMMMMM!!!

We just returned from our first trip and our favorite restaurant, by far, was Madame Janette's. I loved the almond crusted grouper. My husband had the surf & turf and that was wonderful as well. Loved this place so much we had to go back a second time before we left. It will be in our plans EVERY time we return.

It's just too hard to pick a favorite entree. I like to try new things, so I very rarely order the same thing all the time. For instance, at Madame Janette I love the Jumbo Shrimps Coco di Rasta, the Steak Gianni Versace, the Almond Crusted Grouper, the Cordon Bleu du Chef, and some of their fish specials. It all depends on what I'm in the mood for when I order.
The only two places I can think of where I always order the same entree is the Churrasco at El Gaucho and the Duck at Chalet Suisse. My other "must haves" each trip, but are appetizers not entrees, are the Escargot at Chez Mathilde, the Fresh Tomato soup at Que Pasa, the Eggplant Parmigiana at Hostaria Da'Vittorio, and the homemade Dutch pea soup on the Tranquilo.

Greetings!
Wow, you guys have me dying here! I just had dinner at some restaurant in Atlanta and then I come back to the hotel and read all about these favorite entrees! I'm a huge fan of the lobster thermidor at MJ's, and it's killing me to think that they might have taken it off the menu. That would be a heartbreaker to me! I'll have to go with Carol on the Dutch Pea Soup on the Tranquilo. Ahhhhh, there is nothing like that. I even looked for Dutch Pea Soup when I was in Amsterdam last month and they looked at me like I was crazy!! Carol, when are you guys going back and sailing with Anthony? I can't wait to get to Aruba. It's time to dine! Tere

Thay's our favorite, too. One year we had it twice on the same trip.
We also loved the Coconut Grouper at Destiny. Our favorite used to be the grouper at Seawatch Restaurant, but that's just a memory since the Aruba Grand is shut down.

Madame Janette's is by far my favorite on the Island. I've had half the menu and there isn't a bad meal there. If I could only suggest one item to everyone it would be the forest mushrooms in the puff pastry shell as an appertiser. Absolutely fabulous.

You guys are great!!!!!!!!! I haven't been on the board for a couple of days and didn't expect such great feedback; not only do all your recommendations sound great but those pictures of the entrees look so good that if I could I would dig in right now. So not only are we all Aruba lovers but food lovers as well.

Carol,
Sounds great. We might try to go the same day, unless the CL group is doing a private thing this year. We are doing the sunset cruise on the 29th too, if any of you want to join us. Tere

Carol.....just a lil FYI, the new ARUBA commercial being shown on TV here in the states shows a short glimpse of Anthony's boat.....painted all nice and bright red for this new season. It's a really nice commercial and I'm so happy for Anthony !!!
Nick the Greek hit the nail on the head with the French Onion Soup at the Pizza Hut....it is to die for.....I always eat it 2-3 times during all of my stays also really good for budget nites, the potato soup at Tomy Roma's is fantastic also......
