Has anyone ever purchased and used a Sim card in Aruba? I was wondering what your experiences may have been.

Why would you buy a used SIM card? ? ? ? A new one is only $20.00. . . .

Have you been spending too much time in the Red Parrot down there? I said "has anyone purchased and used a Sim card". BTW, how's that new road running from the Cemetary to the Gut working out?

My husband bought his cell phone in Aruba. It was one of the first phones with an MP3 player, Digital Camera, etc. We got a SIM card for Aruba with that phone and when we'd get home we would just switch it out with our T-Mobile SIM card. At that time we frequented Aruba 2x a year and again would switch it out once we landed, went to Charles' booth to buy minutes for the phoen and off we went. When we started NOT coming down 2x's a year the gal at the Charles' booth would just make a phone call to reactivate our SIM card (with our orig. number and all). Apparently they only last 6 months without use (this may have changed since its been a couple of years).
Since neither one of our cell phones worked in Aruba this was the easiest and quickest way for us. Worked great!

We go to the Digicel store by the Wendys at the traffic circle just past the grocery stores on the way to town.
They are very helpful. |

Helmut, make sure that the cell phone that you will be taking to Aruba is unlocked and will work on their bandwidth.
Most quad band phones will work on the Setar system. You can buy a SIM card there and add minutes to your phone. The SIM card will be deactivated, if you do not use it for 6 months. I live in Canada and what I plan to do is leave the SIM card in my Aruba cell, with minutes on it; and use my home phone to occasionally make a call to my Aruba cell, in order to keep the SIM card active. Hope this helps. If you need any more info., feel free to PM me. Dennis. |
