Default Re: Holidays in April

there is only one holiday during this month which is Queen's day and it's the 30th this celebration is throughout the island with folklore music, dances, challenging activities for kids and adults and the most popular is the kite flying competition. maybe you can see a couple of kites in the skies the time you are visiting. i can't wait to show my son (he's 2 years old) how to fly one.

More events will be added when getting closer to the date. nightclubs, cocktail and cigar lounges have their own nightly theme and entertainment, that includes live performances, jazz music, latin music and much more

cultural activities for April 12-20 are

Tuesdays: Bonbini Festival Every Tuesday 18:30 - 21:00 hours. At Fort Zoutman, Oranjestad. This is a cultural event where local musicians, singers and dancers come together. Visitors are able to purchase souvenirs, and sample the local cuisine.

Launch of the “Herencia di Sclavitud” or Slave Heritage Exhibition. The National Archive in cooperation with the National Library of Aruba is hosting this culturally rich exhibition aimed at bringing further awareness to the community about the history of slavery in the Dutch colonies. Sabana Blanco 60, Oranjestad. Time: 8 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. and 13:30 p.m.-4 p.m For information: (297) 583 4880

Thursdays at 8 p.m. film night. Access Art Gallery and Access Annex are located in Caya G.F. Betico Croes (mainstreet) in Oranjestad and will be open from 10:00am to 8:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. For more information please call Access Art at tel: (297) 588 7837 or 588 7379

We arrived in Aruba one year on April 29 (I think) and the following day was Queens Day and then the day after that (May 1st) is their Labor Day so for 2 full days there was nothing opened! Glad we got our food shopping in before the supermarkets were closed! Don't remember any real celebrations though, maybe we were just too caught up in the beach!
