Default I Can't Beleive I Did It

I'm all packed and ready to go tomorrow morning - and I DID IT WITH ONLY 1 SMALL SUITCASE that I will bring on the plane. I will also bring my laptop - can't live without my computer. HOORAY. This is a 1st for me. I usually have a real big suitcase plus a carry-on, and laptop.

The taxi is picking me up at 6 am. since hubby can't go to Aruba and he leaves for work at 6:30 am. My flight leaves from EWR at 8:30 am scheduled to arrive in Aruba at 1:18 pm. Today's flight landed 40 mins. early at 12:34. Hopefully, it will arrive early tomorrow too. No waiting for luggage at the carousel - I'm gonna be out of there soooooo fast.

First I'll stop at the Setar booth at the airport to put minutes in my cell phone. Wish I could get my Wi-Fi card there too, but Aruban Resort & Casino doesn't use Setar. Next I'll scoot across the street to Econo to pickup my car. Then it's off to the Westin for 2 nites and check-in at Aruban Resort on Thurs. for another 9 days.

P.S. I took a break while writing this when I remembered I forgot to pack a few things. I think that if I bring my suitcase & laptop on the plane, I can't carry my pocketbook. That would make 3 items, when you can only bring 2 on the plane. There is not an inch of room left in the suitcase. I told Cheryl I would bring prizes for the Trival Pursuit game she is going to play as our hostess at next Monday's BB get-to-gether. I don't think they are going to fit. I already have in my laptop case magazines, 2 cartons of cigarettes ( I know if I throw them out I would have enough room), 2 cameras, and some clothes. DAMN I don't want to unpack and repack a larger suitcase.

I'm going to be all alone on this trip as a lady that I became friends with at La Cabana Villas was planning to go with me but her sister is very ill and decided it was better not to be so far away. If anyone is going to be at the Westin in the next 2 days or at the Villas next week, come by and say hi.

Your packing skills are to be commended. I would love to drop everything and scoot on down to Aruba so that I could come by and say, "Hi" but it's not in the cards.

Do you still want 1. Riu. a couple of any chips below the $5 denomination and 1 $5 chip. 2. Crystal. I could use a few of the new $1

I thought I saw that someone else was picking up the chips for you. I am happy to get them if you still want me too.

Default Oh yes

I sure do. First, I can always use extra chips. There are a number of other collectors who are interested in Aruba. Second, this way I will definitely get some chips.

Thanks!! I really appreciate it.

WOW Liz...you are the "Woman"! I do have one suggestion that I think I got from Sherry...those airbags for your cloths! I did that last trip and was totally amazed how much room I had left in my luggage! I got the ones from my Mom that you don't need a vacuum...just roll, sit on it, lay on it whatever it takes to get all the air out! They worked wonderful!!!

Have a great trip!!!

Do the clothes wrinkle in those bags? I've always wondered.

I've always wonder about that and haven't had the nerve to try them yet. I plan on using them this year for things I'm not concerned about like bathing suits and underwear. I don't dare put anything else in them............. I'm still trying to figure out how to get things in the bag without making a mess of them !

i hate those bags exactly for that reason. i bought them and packed them and repacked them. then i packed them again. i couldn't quite get the hang of making them neat. when i fold things for packing i am very neat. somehow these things looked terrible in the bags. so out they came and are now used to keep some things stored that i don't give a hoot about wrinkling.

I am one of the people that have suggested the travel bags.
paul and I use them religiously.

The trick is to fold your stuff as neatly as you can and then place them in the bag flat.
Seal the bag and press (do not roll as the instructions state) the air out.

The clothing comes out just like when you put it in.

The bag with sox, undies, nighties and bathing suits is easy.....throw the stuff in and squeeze the air out.......................i do not mind if that stuff is wrinkled, so i am not as meticulous.

Now back and forth to Aruba we have limited stuff to bring as we have 47 pounds of clothing, sandals, sneakers and lotions in our timeshare storage box. We bring only our rolling pilot cases and in that are just a few clothing items and toiletries and books on cd and cd players.

In our Aruba timeshare storage box, every article of clothing is in the storage bags..........with air squeezed out. Our stuff stays in there for months at a time.

In Aruba and here at home, i hang all shirts tee shirts, tank tops, blouses.
I am a stickler for wrinkles and i try to avoid putting tees and tanks in drawers.

I knew it was one of you gals that used them...yup, mine came out great. I tried the rolling and they all bunched up at one end so I sat on them...up sat on them and moved my butt from one end to the other and all the air came out and they were unwrinkled when I got to Aruba!

OK, you've convinced me. I'll try the "sitting on it" trick! Thanks!

I didn't read any further into this thread, this quote was entertaining enough!
