Kiosk at Aruba airport?

I know the alcohol kiosk wasn't there our last few trips to Aruba but someone mentioned that it is now open. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, is it open everyday? We arrive on Monday around 1pm.

There is a duty free shop to the right of the luggage area and they sell more than just liquor. From our experience they are open as long as planes are coming in.

I believe that you will find it open. However last trip in November did not have 1 bottle of Vodka or Bourbon in the entire store. Selection was limited and prices did not seem that good. I think you would be better off buying at duty free at departure airport in the US.

Are you folks talking about buying liquor as you leave Aruba....or when you have just arrived? There used to be a small kiosk as you made your way to claim baggage. I think that's the one the original writer was referring to. When you are leaving the island, there are any number of duty free shops available.

You are correct leaving Aruba has a large duty free shop on the first floor and more on the level with the gates. I believe they were talking about arrival. Small kiosk in baggage claim with limited selection.

So...the question remains...is the liquor kiosk doing business with newly arrived visitors? :)

There used to be a "cart" in the hallway on arrival. Gone now!
Now, it is a fixed location just beyond the baggage carousels...if you are exiting the airport, it is in the far right corner of the arrivals area...you can buy as you are going INTO Aruba. Did not buy last year, but it was there.

We did buy a bottle on the way out last year...there is now a small liquor area in the final departure lounge...after you have passed all the exit check points.

Not that it should be a preoccupying thing, however if you think about it, many of the shops and Kiosks continue to re-shuffle and change locations. I asked one of the kiosk (store) owners about this and the answer was quite simple actually.

There seems to be a general design (rule of thumb) that most international airports use to set up their tenants lists, their locations and the rent to be charged. When this is done to a smaller airport, it does not always work out and the "shuffle" starts. If the construction or re-modeling of an airport is lengthy, then it further confuses things because many temporary measures are taken and they then become void when the airport is opened fully. This is not that bad in heavily traveled airports, however plays havoc with destination airports where the travelers may visit once a year and is confronted with these changes.

That (in general) is the response I got.

be well

Yes - there is a small shop after you pass thru luggage to purchase duty free items upon arrival to the island. It is to the right after luggage area.

What we did when we arrived. I waited for the luggage and my wife went over and bought our duty free. Saved a lot of time and hassle. :thumbs_up
