Default Ling & Sons

Does anyone know if Ling & Sons carries a marqarita mix or a daquiri mix...like Jose Quervo or Sauza or anything? I'm sure they prob carry tequila of some sort and I know they have a wide selection or other liquors...rum, vodka, etc. Just wasn't sure bout the mixers. Has anyone ever brought thier own mixers and/or booze? How do you pack something like that? I'm guessing bubble wrap in the checked baggage?? Any input please. Just figured it would be alot cheaper to bring my own booze than buy at store.

Thanks.

I'm sure Ling & Sons will have want your looking for. We pack a plastic bottle of rum in bubble wrap, check in baggage, never had a problem.

i would also add a jumbo zip lock (they now have the extra large size in most groceries in the states) to surround the bottle and bubble wrap.

I Love Aruba Re: Ling & Sons

They carry a great assortment of beer, wine, and liquor. They also had the mixers too. We stock up here several times during our 2 weeks.

We usually pack some in bubble wrap and then put in a large zip lock bag and put it in between our clothes in our checked luggage. We do buy the plastic bottles and have never had a problem. I usally bring one liter of favorite liquor per person.

Pink Lemonade or crystal light works great with Vodka and the flavored Vodkas.

We love making our own frozen mudslides in our room, brown ladies, margarita's, wine, etc. We have a great bar selection for our 2 weeks.

This year we are going to try to hit the duty free in Miami , FL and will put it in our carry on.

We really miss the duty free kiosk that they used to have when you got off the plane. Great prices and good brands.

Good luck,
Jill

I usually bring a bottle of TGI Friday's Margarita's with me. Bubble wrap the plastic bottle and pack between clothes. Every year I look to see if any stores have that or the Jose Cuervo one but usually only find mixes without the liquor. If anyone has seen them let me know, my luggage will be lighter!

Well, at least I can get the mix. I'll just have to buy some tequila too! Would be nice if they sold w/the liquor already in it. Thanks!

Seem to recall buying Jose Cuervo Margarita (complete) when in Aruba in November. If I did I got it at Ling and Sons.

I brought down 6 bubble wrapped 1.75 liter plastic bottles of alcohol in checked luggage two weeks ago, no problem I saved $ 145 dollars after doing the math. Also, entering through Aruban customs we declared we had one liter each from miami but they seemed quite indifferent as to how much we had, never even looked in bags.

I read somewhere about packing glass/liquids in a disposal diaper, then in a ziplock. The diaper provides cushioning and will absorb any liquid that leaks or spills. Thought this was a good idea!!!!

I bubble wrap and then place two each in large tupperware containers to absorb impact. Never had any problems. Just watch the weight.

If I said this before, I apologize, but on September 12th (when we came in for 3 weeks), it was the FIRST time I heard Aruba asking several people if they had any alcohol to declare.

Y'all know the accepted limits do not include several jumbo bottles.

We had no alcohol, but computer-linking would make me know that they might know (be trying to identify) those who had purchased goodly amounts at duty-free shops in the US.

Sorry for thinking that "big brother" is watching, but he is.

I've done it for six years in a row with no problems. Another popular misconception out there is that you cannot bring liquids through a TSA security checkpoint, you can in 3 OZ containers, as many that will fit in a one quart ziplock bag. You have to carry the ziplock bag(not in your carry-on) and put it the screening bin with your shoes and other stuff. Here's the link TSA | Transportation Security Administration | 3-1-1 on Air Travel
