Need just one night's stay

Hello - our flight out of Aruba is Sunday instead of Saturday as usual and we will be forced to spend an extra night on the island (oh darn!) We can always stay one more night at our own timeshare at the Divi, albeit with a room change, but we thought maybe we'd like to try something different.

I know many places have a 'minimum' stay that we will not meet, but does anyone have any ideas where we can stay for just one Saturday night? This will be for the beginning of October so 'low' season.

Kent Gerber from this board has reported great experiences staying at Club Arias. Matter of fact, we are going to try staying there ourselves instead of accelerating at Divi on our trip in March. It's in Savaneta and is like a Bed & Breakfast. We have never stayed there ourselves, but have heard good things. Aside from being off the beaten path a bit, it sounds nice, and there is no minimum stay. Here's a link where you can actually tour each room. There are only like 10 or 11 rooms, but they may have one available since it's not high season.

Wow - I had never heard of this place. It looks really nice! My husband is sure to balk at the $200 a night price tho - even if it includes breakfast. :embaresse His idea of breakfast is a cup of coffee. They do have a 'nook' room that is quite reasonable but you have to shower outside because there is only a toilet and sink in the bathroom. I'm not sure I could do that one!

the outside shower is not revealing. i don't remember the 'nook' room but i can tell you that the place is lovely. it is not your average bed and breakfast.

Re: Need just one night's stay

We are spending our 1st night in the nook, then 2 weeks at our Divi timeshare, and then our last 8 days in a regular room at ClubArias. As far as the $$ goes, how much cheaper is it for an extra night at Divi? I can't remember the exact price, but whenever we need an extra night at Divi, seems it's not a whole lot less than $200. And clubarias does not have that energy surcharge charged at Divi. If they quote $200, that's what you pay, $200 - no extra charges. Maybe that will appease your husband a bit? And I've heard from a lot of people that they PREFERRED the outside shower even when they had one in their room. Showering under the stars they called it.

Sherry, we're actually pretty excited about staying somewhere different and Arias is wonderful to talk and deal with. It's going to be a little different for us especially on those late night casino trips and not being right across from the beach, but am still looking forward to a new experience.

We like to stay an extra night like that at the Renaissance downtown and spend a day on their private island.

Try a Studio at the Amsterdam Manor. Great restaurants and Beach Bar.

To really save money try the MVC on Eagle Beach. Where Tulips is.

Sherry, thank you - can I search the albums for them myself? Although, I have seen dozens of pics thanks to Kent, who was nice enough to share his vacation pics with me as well as his top rated raves about the place. He sure convinced me to try it. It's a bit pricey for us to go for 8 days there instead of accelerating on our timeshare, but we are celebrating a major anniversary in 2011 so that's how we're justifying the cost to ourselves. That and eating a bit more pasta and salad at home that is, lol. We usually go out to eat maybe 2-3 times a month, so between giving that up and my being able to work at night from Oct-Christmas, we'll be fine. The extra "reassessment" charges for our timeshare made 2011 a lot more expensive. I guess 2012 will be the same but thankfully, we always seem to manage our trip to Aruba somehow.

uhm, i feel stupid... i had posted them and then arias put up his own site (he hadn't created the site yet since the place was just opening. so i took it down since my pics didn't compare. talk about dumb! i had to refresh my memory by looking back to when i posted originally. ok, now i'm going to slink away and pretend i didn't say anything, lol.

We may see if the Nook is available if you all don't think the outside shower is too bad. Waiting for our flight now - should be in Aruba by lunchtime! An extra night's stay at a Divi studio is $99 for us.

Re: Need just one night's stay

99 isn't bad so if you don't want to go that far go for it however if you want a new experience in a new part of aruba go for it. i've seen the shower and it is not bad at all. as they say, a shower under the stars...

A lovely little bed and breakfast in Pos Chiquito. Very affordable and immaculately clean. Check it out.

Sherry, no worries and no need to slink my friend; you have sooo many posts to keep track of - I can barely remember where my keys are half the time. I actually looked through the Albums to see if I could find them, and then thoroughly enjoyed browsing! It's one area I haven't visited much and I'm glad I checked it out. So thanks!

Yes, I look forward to hearing about your stay as well. Although we've never met, Arias sounds like a very accommodating man - we're booked in the nook for 1 night, but he said if a larger room was available, he'd let us have it for the same price. Just a great person to deal with. Enjoy your pasta night!!! Can't wait to hear all about it.

I didn't read Sherry's post until our return but I did tell Gabriel you said hello, Liz and he gave me a big smile and said hello back at you. Pasta night was very enjoyable and it is quite obvious Arias really goes the extra mile for his guests. We are looming forward to our stay Sat. & will be sure to fill everyone in! Looking quite forwRd to relaxing at that awesome pool.

We stayed at www.buffamstropicalhaven.com. Great suites with kitchenette near Ling's. The owners Sherry and Rick are great. They have a pool and breakfast is included. I believe we paid $60/ night off season.
