Smile Renaissance Marina Concern

After reading reviews on TripAdvisor, I am concerned about the cleanliness, and musty smell in the rooms in the MarinaTower. My wife and I have reservations for ten days at the Renaissance, and hope we do not have a similar experience as the folks who wrote a negative review. I would like to know, should we have a similar problem, is the management is receptive to moving us to a different room? Other than moving to a different hotel, I would like hear any additional suggestions how one might deal with these types of problems. We have a “standard” room reserved during our stay in Aruba. We would like to know if there are better “standard” rooms based on location in the MarinaTower than other rooms.

My wife and I stayed at the Marina Tower last week. We had a great time. Rooms were very clean and no smell problem at all. The lobby and atrium are open and humid during the day. This is hard to describe if you have not seen the hotel, but a portion of some hallways are not enclosed. The only issue we had initially was noise. We arrived on 5/29, the weekend of the music festival and either performers or participants were at the hotel. We reserved an ocean view room. We initially had room 1356. It was on the third floor at pool level and we requested to move higher. It was on a hallway that was not enclosed and the late night noise from the bar area was easily heard. After the festival, things quieted down and there were no noise issues. All rooms were booked that night so we moved to 1561 on the fifth floor the next day. No other issues at all. Staff is very friendly and there to serve. I would definitely stay here again. I liked the view of the marina, watching freighters and cruise ships, yet going to the private island for a great beach. My wife liked that the hotel connects to shopping, and other shopping nearby. Also, connects to a casino and the ability to walk to Driftwood and El Gaucho for dinner. As to rooms, I think there are standard, island view, ocean view, executive suite, and suite. Hope this helps.

We stayed 2 nights there once and did not have a problem with musty smells. Room was very clean but very small. Also we were on the 6th floor rear and street noise was very bad. Kept us awake most of the night and when we finaly did fall asleep, louder noises around 5 am woke us again. Delivery trucks backing in and out of the hotel making a lot of noise.
Suggest you upgrade to the ocean tower if your staying 10 days and want to stay in town. Rooms are much larger and peaceful. Pool area is a lot nicer too.

I did not pick up on the 10 day stay. I would suggest looking into the Ocean Suites also as they have kitchens and more room. Look at the website for more information http://www.arubarenaissance.com/.

I agree with the above comments - the ocean suites are the way to go. Better rooms, better location, better pool, quiet.

We did 5 nights last year and will be doing three this year, in the Marina Tower. Small, clean rooms. We faced the government building/marina and my wife often heard the traffic below. I, on the otherhand, slept like a log. No musty smell other than the natural dampness that is the usual when you are near the water on a small island. The Ocean Suites might be more comfortable for a long stay. They would also be quieter.

We stayed only one night in early may. The room was fine for us for one night. Clean, small, very comfortable King sized bed, i think we were on the 4th floor. We heard no noise from outside the room.

We'll be staying there for 3 nights in August pre and post timeshare.

We got the marina tower thru priceline for less than $100 per night including tax, fees and cancellation insurance. I have/had no complaints.

10 nights, i would want more space. But if you got a good rate, the smallness iseasy to deal with. By small, I am guessing the room was about 20x16.

It is a lovely hotel.

bye
