Arubian people are awesome! I live with equally positive, welcoming & COMFORTABLE neighbors in Lima, Ohio. Orangestad, Aruba might consider Lima, OHIO as a sister city. Ya think?

Aruba Mary summed up beautifully!Every part of the day in Aruba is wonderful- from sunrise to sunset and everything in between. We are returning for our 16th visit this year...and, as we've said all along, every visit is even better than the last one!

We returned on March 1 from our 4 week vacation in Aruba this year. As always, it was wonderful! What we love most about Aruba are the people!

The people of Aruba, The Weather and the Peace.
No Phone, I always tell everyone the phones do not work well. Visit 3 times a year and always can make time for a 4th time. I'll be on that plane on August 25th. Great weather, people, restaurants and beaches. |

Hi everybody,
First time replying to something on this forum. I've been going to Aruba since June 1980, so on and off for over 30 years. Yes there have been many changes over the years but all the things which make Aruba, well Aruba, are still there in abundance. The people, warm sunny weather, the beautiful beaches, the whole restaurant/bar/casino/club scene, and the shopping. I sometimes wish there wasn't as much traffic too but c'est la vie! My main point is this. Everyone is entitled to their opinion; here's mine. It is not for Canadians or Americans (Dutch? That's different. It's their place) to demand that Aruba remain is some kind of time-warp so that we can enjoy it's old uncrowded colonial charm. All I know is, it's still a wonderful place for a holiday. Have a good evening, Glenn Winnipeg, Canada |

The reason there is so much traffic in Aruba is because of all the snowbirds going there and renting cars instead of using public transport. In May there is hardly anyone on the roads, and you begin to wonder where everyone is. Then you realize, they have all gone home. We have spent four weeks there this year, February, April, May, and it gets much quieter as the year progresses. Next trip is October. Can't wait. The water is much warmer in October also, there isn't the chill you get in February. This is coming from someone who lives in Florida and doesn't like the water cool. We love the people, love the island, love the diversity. Change has to happen, it's the nature of things, but let's hope change doesn't come too quickly to this wonderful island.

We live in Florida so we don't suffer through too many cold days, let alone a cold winter. Also it's nice to have the island to yourself, which we will soon because we move in a couple of months to be in Aruba full time.

The weather is fantastic always.
The People are friendly, fun, and always make us feel welcome as tourists. Water and beaches are magical. The rocks/wildlife and natural beauty the island has to offer. Safe safe safe! we can be out late strolling without feeling paranoid. The quality of food and beverage is top notch, my wife and I have never been ill. The above favorites are all my wife and I need, as that is the recipe for a perfect relaxing vacation. |

Sorry theredfox ,
I have read back a bit and understand how much more you appreciate what Aruba used to be, after 35 years of watching it change I can understand how you might feel, My wife and I have only been coming for the past 3 years, due back in just a few weeks for our 5th time, I don't really know what it used to be like, I am part of the blame "newcomers" as we have now have fallen in love with the island and people and continue to return. It is not the cheapest place to holiday, but I never leave feeling that it was outlandishly expensive,( the only time I really do pamper myself is while on holidays, and I find I get what I pay for). I know it is busy but that is only because so many people like myself come back and tell all my friends to try Aruba once.....It then sells itself, with so many good things to offer its hard to keep a secret. I really like the fact Aruba has all the amenities we look for...Safe....Warm ....and a great Hospital/medical system if needed, ( my wife has medical issues and if needed they are close), The fact it has McDonald's and Quizznos does not bother me one bit, I think they cater to all, even If I don't eat there. I don't think I will ever tire of the Sunset, and hope to watch it go down twice a year for a few weeks for the rest of my life, It is Paradise to us. If I may make a suggestion to you is to try a little further down the island around Saveneta, It may give you the feel you are looking for, and still the weather we all enjoy, all the best. |

Wow RedFox...that's the best you can do? That it's warm? Really? If you're so dissatisfied with the island, why don't you go to Florida, California, Texas, Arizona or some other warm state. Or even another warm island. There are plenty of warm places in the world. The people of Aruba are still wonderful, the beaches are still great, and the sunsets can't be beat. And if I want solitude, I have no problem finding it here. Been going ourselves for over 30 years, and has it changed? You betcha. But so have we. Is it more crowded? Absolutely. But I still find the peace I need there. Do I still love it? Without a shadow of a doubt. There is something about this island that draws us back all the time. No one is breaking your arm to come to this island. If all you want is warm temps, there are plenty of places to choose from. Lighten up will ya?
