I Love Aruba Re: Bella Luna

We went last year. It was OK, nice atmosphere, the service was awesome, but the food was just OK. When we left next door at Sole Mare it smelled really good and was jammed with people. I think we are going to try that place when we head down.

Thumbs up Re: Bella Luna

This is a great place when I went there 2 years ago. Food was good and the service was excellent. We went there to dine twice then. Looking to go there again this year. I would give it a good rating.

We don't live far from you. Next door in New York, Staten Island. When do you usually go to Aruba? We have a timeshare in August, weeks 31 and 32. Let me know if you go to Bella Luna first. Marie

OK HERE'S MY 1000 POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm originally a New Yorker!!! Long Island to be exact. We go in May usually (but not this year cause we went last week in March) and November. You will have to try Bella Luna for us and give us your review. I pride myself on being a NYer and knowing good Italian food (and it looks it, LOL).

Don't look for the McD's in town...its no longer there!!!

You got it and will give you my review when we return. Sure hope they have the same chef. One good thing about Staten Island is that I'm still not far from water and near the ocean at the Jersey shore. But, it's still not Aruba!

Thumbs down La Bella Luna

We've been to Aruba 6 times, and four of those times we've been to La Bella Luna, the food isn't the best, but it's a nice place, the food is decent and it's never terribly crowded. On our most recent visit, this past September 29th, we went again. We were 6 adults and three children. While looking over the menu, and talking to each other about what we might have for dinner, my daughter, who was sitting next to me asked why the prices in my menu were different from hers. We started comparing and her prices were different from everyone else's at the table. She turned hers over and noticed it was imprinted "Local Menu" We called the waiter over to ask what this meant, and were told that it was a promotion for the "locals". It some cases there was a $5.00 difference per entree. So we asked if this was a "Stick it to the Tourists" situation and he seemed embarassed and asked the manager what to do. The manager honored the "local menu" prices, but we will never go back there again. I wonder how many other restaurants have the same practice?

I own at Aruban Resort & Casino (formerly La Cabana Villas). I rent extra nights before/after my timeshare weeks. Owners pay more to rent a unit than locals.

although i would love to fault the restaurants and timeshares completely for that policy you need to understand the reasoning. there are lean times during the year when there are empty restaurants and timeshares. the lower price meals for locals means that the locals can go to more restaurants and it also means that some of our favorite places can stay in business. they couldn't charge the tourists that price and have all of their customers paying those prices because they wouldn't exist very long at just break even but giving those prices to the locals also gives them the local recommendations so it is the price of doing business. it happens everywhere in the world where there is great competition. i can't say i like it but i do understand it.

We go to this restaurant every year. You have to ask the waiter for the "Special", I believe it is a five course meal for one set price. You used to be able to choose off the menu but the last time we went they had a special menu. It was something like $29.95, which included soup or salad, appetizer, dinner, dessert and beverage.
