I think that's what it's called, one of the new restaurants. Has anyone been here yet? I'd love your opinion as I was planning on trying it next week. Also where is it?

Haven't been there yet but saw it while we were there in April. It's located where the Old Mill Restaurant used to be. We may try it next week as well!

The sangria is to die for.
We were there 2x in August. Be forewarned, a pitcher of sangria is $36. Ribs and chicken are delicious. I could eat and drink at eleanora's EVERY night.......definately my favorite spot in Aruba. andrea j. |

in May we went there just to check it out and planned on returning on that following Monday for the Paella/Sangria special. Its a cute small place but when Monday arrived it was way too hot to sit outside and my husband wanted AirConditioning. So we never went. There is an indoor portion but they have no door (or there always open)...can anyone whose been there tell me if its cool on the inside (even with no doors)?? I'd love to try it but can't get hubby back there unless theres AC. Thanks

If you go to the Aruba Today online newspaper they run full page ads vitually everyday and the one on Mondays is about paella night. I believe Mondays paper is still up on the site as I'm writing this. Last edited by thrix; Tuesday, September 13th, 2005 at 10:34 PM. |

Corrine - I don't think your a lush (what do I know). Buit I hope you try Eleonora's next month.
I want your opinion as I really want to try it in December. If you do go there, could you ask them for me if they are going to be open the day after Christmas (Boxing Day) as they don't have a website or e-mail address to contact them. This will be a definite visit for me, so I'll be sure to report back. I did see the ad in ArubaToday and the hours are kind of strange, Mon-Wed 3-11pm & Sat 1-11pm. Closed on Thurs & Fri? I'll verifiy that also when I'm there.

We went to Eleanora's on a Thursday evening and again on a Wednesday evening (aug 11 and 18).
Sangria glass is $4.50 pitcher is $36. the rib and chicken specials come with 1 glass of sangria or 1 balashi. their sangria is to die for. their fresh squeezed lemonade is delicious. Eleanora's is a wonderful find. Andrea J. Quote:

I agree with Andea, very good ribs & chicken. Plus very tasty sangria. We were there on Paella night (monday) and they give 1 free glass of sangria with the meal. A nice casual place.

We ate at Eleanora's in Nov. 2005, it is a small restaurant you can eat indoors or out. We made the mistake of eating outside the mosquitos were a real nuisance. The food was good, chicken & ribs with a choice of two side orders, lots of food, very pleasant waitress. The restaurant is located next to the The Dutch Mill (my favourite) and Destiny.

allllright i gave eleonoras a second chance, this time i had paella (and sangria, which i already had before) The paella was COLD. I mean COLD. The sangria was just as "yummy" as usual (no thanks)! But no more chances for eleonoras.... For me its 2 strikes and your OUT of there.. I loveeeee loveee loveee madame jeanette(almond crusted grouper) and aruba destiny (everything :P)....
Btw i had a grilled rack of lamb at the promenade recently, very good Restaurant Guru |

That would explain it guru! Sauvignons are pretty dry wines. Sangria is definitely sweet, esp. loaded with fruit like at Eleonoras. I like a chardonnay for white or chianti for red - neither super dry! Eleonoras I wouldn't call classy, but it was great food and cheap prices. Some nights we do expensive and some cheaper. And I hate when the cheaper ones are awful, so we were pleasantly surprised here. Why didn't you tell them your paella was cold? I"m sure they would have taken it back. What is keshi jena? I would like to try it! |

It's pretty complicated but delicious. There's a recipe for it under the "cuisine" link on the home page.

Restaurant Guru's tastes differ as does Corinne's, mine etc....
I often wonder why folks do not send a cold meal back when it is presented instead of complaining about it later. Restaurants do not go out of their way to pi$$ people off. They are in the business to please. Re: the Destiny.... I do not like being put on the spot and Destiny did that to me 2x in August. Both times we were entering elenora's and the female hostess, maybe the manager or owner, came onto the sofa waiting area of elenora's to "convince" us to give destiny a try instead of elenora's. i felt that was real poor form and out of line. Guru and I do agree on the Promenade and it prettiness and delicious lamb. No, I take that back. Guru and i do not agree as I do not understand GURU's agenda. My kinda wine is BOXED chardonnay (franzia) and turning leaf white zin. So I am a cheap wine drinker. So be it! I have little or no respect for "wine snobs". <calling a spade a spade> ____________________________________________________________ |

The Long Island region has been sprouting wineries for years and now we have quite a few good ones. I belong to a wine club and go out east twice a year for wine tasting parties. Unfortunately they are carried in liquor stores, local or out of state. But I can order online from them, which is what I do. The wines range from $7 to $35 a bottle, the whites generally are better. I stick with the $7-18 range, $35 is nuts. I hope you dont think I am a wine "snob" but I really enjoy the outings and the wines!

not a snob at $7-18. that is in the reasonable catagory. now, $35 is foolish. sorry, no wine is that good in my opinion of course i really am not a big drinker.
we belonged to a wine tasting club for a few years also. i remember dragging cases of mixed wines from cheap to expensive from the liquor store each time it was our turn. the store was excellent and really gave us a broad range. after many tastings all of us, and we came from all walks of life and income levels, agreed that the mid range wines tended to really be excellent and even a few really cheap wines were great but the high priced spread were there for bragging rights over the brand names. the store owner actually agreed with us. That is right! The cheaper to middle range ones are good, the higher ones I can't even tell! I also enjoy the socialization of meeting all new people and my favorite cousin (who went to Aruba with me this year) also comes up from Florida, so it is a special outing for me! |

Well, now...back to Elenoras.......LOL
![]() ![]() We went there once, and ate outside. They had citronnella candels everywhere, we blew ours out on our table, as the smell would interfere with tasting the food. I had the ½ chicken, and this was delicious, fall off the bone tender. (brought the leg home in a doggybag for lunch the next day!) Hubby had the ribs, which he found to be dry, and not as good as Iguana Joes. The lady at the table beside us was having coconut shrimp, and was very expressive about how good they were, and that she would surley be back many times to eat here. It was an inexpensive meal, very casual. |

two rib/chicken combos, two chicken sate platters, one steak, and a pasta meal. all excellent. murray and i had salads, a combo meal and chicken sate with soda for a gigantic total of $36. the portions were large and the taste was really good. have to give it a 9.

We were going to go here during our last trip in Sept. but took a look at the menu and it just wasn't for us. I think it was because the menu was limited and we weren't in the mood for casual-type food that evening. I'm just not a ribs and chicken person.

I'm glad that Jan is back on his feet and that they have re-opened. Service is very friendly and prompt. Food has always been very good with reasonable pricing. Wife and I had ribs, they were excellent as always. The rest of family had chicken and said that it was very good, tender and juicy. We will always have a meal or two at Elenoras.
Amy, how unfortunate that you are not a "ribs & chicken" person. We occasionally enjoy a "clunker" meal while on the island. |

We prefer the more casual places.
To each their own right? Eleonora's has amazing grilled grouper and outstanding paella. Although I love ribs and chicken, my stomach sometimes does not. One evening at Eleonora's I passed on the BarbQ and got the grouper. It was outstanding. The next outing there we had paella and it was marvelous. Quote:

I agree! I really liked this place but hubby was not thrilled. Not that he disliked it...he just wasn't impressed. I was. I loved my ribs and my sangria. Tasted his Paella and thought it was great! Glad they are reopened.
Hey Andrea...looks like we are both gonna be at LaCabana the same time in May! My T/S is 5/19-26. Haven't made our plans as of yet though!
