We really enjoyed the French Steakhouse on our last visit. We had the Ambassador Dinner, and the price was right.

We too took the ambassador dinner. Ths sea food crčpe was delicious, and that was just the beginning. The rest of the meal was excellent as well. The service too was friendly, and very good.

When we ate at The French Steakhouse last month we had an early bird special and we each tried one of the 2 steaks they offered. We went with this option as we do not drink wine and coffee (at night). The early bird is offered if you are seated b4 7 and is only 19.99!!We would definately return to this restaraunt. My only complaint was the stuffed mushroom appetizer was 2 small mushrooms for 7 dollars. That just seemed totally outrageous to us both and we had a good laugh about them.

Their Ambassador’s special no longer includes wine. They will add a bottle of house wine (red or white) for $9.95. Although I don’t like wine, Chris knew that he could take “home” any wine that he didn’t finish, so we ordered a bottle. We both had the mushroom caps, salads and Churrascos (and they added the fire & spice sauce on the side, for Chris, at his request). I had the apple strudel and Chris had the dame blanche for dessert. We each took home about half of our steaks and a half of the bottle of wine. The total was $80 with the service charge included.

We had the ambassador special, and we were not impressed. My steak was overcooked badly, while my wife's was nearly raw (we both asked for medium). Service was paaaaaaaainfully slow. We'll try them again, but so far they're 0 for 1.

We've eaten there about 5 times and each time the food was quite good. It's one of the reasons we're staying at the Manchebo again this trip.

We ate here in late April, and were very impressed. We both had their ambassador special for $24.95 and it was more food than either of us could eat, we were stuffed! It inlcuded appetizer, soup or salad, main entree (I think there are like 5 to choose from), dessert and coffee/tea. My hubby asked for his dessert to go and we nibbled on mine but couldn't finish it. We both had the churrasco tenderloin and was cooked perfectly and was the best steak we had on the island, it came with grilled veggies and some garlic/cheese potatoes that were delicious also. Dessert was chocolate cake and apfel strudel, both very good. The service couldn't have been better, I know this place gets good/bad reviews in terms of service, but ours was outstanding, someone was always waiting on us it seemed. Will definitely go here again.

I used to consider the French Steakhouse excellent, but it's slipped over the last year or two. I now rate it good. It's no longer on my "must" list.

I Love Aruba Re: The French Steakhouse

Can't say if their STEAK is as good as the rest of the restaurants but over the many years have always gotten the Catch of the Day. Can rate that equal to any on the island. Go in June for 2 weeks so never rushed, great service, ...... Of course fewer people there then.

the French Steakhouse got the highest rating from us three girls last year. All of us agreed that the food and service there was better then any of the other places we ate at and that includes El Guacho and Driftwood. It's on our "must" list. Now with so many places to try, We can't decide where to go this year! I thnk we are going to try Texas D'Brazil, Mme Jeanette's, or Swiss Chalet. Maybe all of them. I remember how we wanted to Eat at "Le Petite Cafe", but I think the prices scared us away. The place is very cute though!

i know this is the thread on FSH but i have to agree with you on le petite. plus, if i wanted to pay to cook my own steak i wouldn't do it in a restaurant, lol.

you really must try mj's and/or swiss chalet. they are both excellent. if i had to limit myself to one mj's has just a slight edge.

We love this place! The service is great and the Ambassador Special is a terrific buy. We also had breakfast on the terrace several times this trip. Excellent prices, service, and meal. They give you the paper with your coffee and their Maitre D (Allen) always has a smile and stops to say hello.

Thumbs up Re: The French Steakhouse

I totally enjoyed my special birthday dinner here. We were a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals. The Chilean wine that came with the Ambassador dinner (extra $9.95) was quite good, and I took the label to try and get it here in the States. I had delicious steak which I like med-well and the waiter advised me to go for medium....he was right. I was very surprized at the "flare" sparkler they brought out for me in my bread pudding (which was out of this world)....the flair was fun and the maitre 'D offered to take the photo.....dined indoors, nice piano player.....I was very happy with this choice and would definetly return again. Pink tablecloths were sweet. Very nice staff, friendly service.

Wink Re: The French Steakhouse

Another EXCELLENT place to dine, highly recommend it ..... try their early bird specials, 20 bucks, and you get a grand meal - try the outdoor seating, adds the right flair.

We discovered this great restaurant in December on our fourth trip to Aruba. We liked it so much we came back twice. It is a great value and the wait staff is very friendly. You can order the Ambassador's Menu for about $30
and that includes wine and a four-course meal. Lots of "regulars", including
guests of Manchebo Beach and other Eagle Beach hotels. We liked it better
than the other steak houses in Aruba and not a tourist trap either. Try it!

OK. We were lucky enough to go back to Aruba last week and The French
Steakhouse was definitely not as good as it was in December. Hopefully, it
was an "off" night but the food was not so great and I wouldn't give it
such an enthusiastic review this time.

Went back on this trip, and weren't dissapointed. The food was delicious! The service great, and friendly. We all took from the Ambassador special menu. I had the red snapper, SIL had Filet Mignon, H and BIL the Churass......steak. All the meals were good, the dessert was just ok. I found the chocolate cake to be dry. The apple strudel was good, according to the men...just too small.LOL! SIL had the crème brulé, which was tasty too. All in all, a very good meal. We also had a bottle of Merlot, for 9.99.

I was there in November, had bought the Aruba dine around plan to pre-pay some of my dinners.

I was dining alone and it seemed to me that they got confused as to who was serving who, and I was not happy with the service.

Then, before I left I gave the card over and the extra money, (some things have a sur-charge) and ended up being tackled in the lobby by yet another waitress who said I did not pay. I explained to her who I paid and away she went. Would I go again? Probably not. Except perhaps to get the strudle for take out!!
