Great place to have a cold beer or two and share an order of chips
and salsa after a day of shopping downtown. Sit near the edge of the
railing and a great place to people watch. Also, the Jerked chicken
sandwich is very good!

We weren’t very hungry on this day, but decided that we couldn’t be that close to Iguana Joe’s and not get a bite to eat along with their fantastic drinks! For the first time, Chris tried their mojito and claimed it the best he had every tasted. I went for my usual cactus colada – yum! We split 2 appetizers – the iguanachos (the best!) and the rib sampler with some fries. Of course we had a couple more drinks. The total was $40 without service included.

We LOVE Iguana Joe's. We started a tradition that the day we go shopping we stop in and have their delicous drinks and something to snack on...only to find out that pretty much everyone on this board does that on their shopping day. My husband likes the Pink Iguana's and I like the Grandma Joe's Pink Lemonade! YUMMY! Boy I really could have one now!

As for the food at Iguana Joe's (sorry didn't put in original post!). The have great chicken quesadillas.. we get them every time we go there. I go between the coconut shrimp and the chicken fajitas, and the Hub usually does some sort of fajitia.. this time he did the mahi mahi (or was it ahi ahi?) fajitas, and all of the food was great! We haven't tried Smokey Joe's yet, we went there the day we left, however the place doesn't open until 5pm ... oh well, we'll just have to make sure that's on the list for our next trip whenever that may be!

I too liked the atmosphere. Sitting in the area looking outside is great...especially if you are a people watcher.

I thought the food was good as well and the drinks potent.

I would recommend it!

Great place for lunch when downtown shopping, we ate there twice last year and twice this year. Only complaint, don't go when cruise ships are in port! Very busy and slower service, other than that we love the atomsphere and being able to peoplewatch below on the street, never had bad food, but it's not out of this world either. Between the two of us, we have had a variety of menu items and appetizers, reasonable prices.

Had the Jerk Chicken for appetizer it was very good.

Best rib deal I have found to date. Excellent ribs, 2 full slabs $16. I had the grilled tenderloin, excellent. I will go back often.

The place is great. Recommend Iguanachos and Mahi Mahi sandwich(huge). I have had better burgers though. Had a drink that was potent; can't remember name of it but it was one served in the caraffe and had 151.

We just had another great meal there last week, sat by the balcony and watched the sun set over our cruise ship. Loren and her parents all had the ribs, which they swear are the best they've ever had. I had a burger, which was just average (fortunately they all had leftover ribs for me to devour). Their wasabi mashed taters are tasty. Drinks are a bonus, because they use carafes instead of regular glasses, so you get like 3-4 shots for the price of 1!

I always buy some of their hot sauce, also got a couple shirts this time.

I agree 100% - we were only in Aruba for 24 hours this trip, and we chose IJ's as our dinner and drinks spot. Now that's an endorsement!

I Love Aruba Re: Iguana Joe's

I always stop at Joe's on the way to the resort from the airport for lunch. What better way to start your vacation than with a couple of beers and their jerk chicken. March 11 can't get here quick enough. By the time I get to the resort I feel like I've been there for a while already. Everything on the menu is great and reasonable also.

For lunch - simply the best. For dinner, not so hot. I'll qualify that by saying we have been there many times for lunch, excellent every time. Been there for dinner once, not so good.

went there twice this last trip. Hubby had the ribs...which he states are hard to beat!!! BIL had the jamaca me chicken...spicey!!! SIL had the parmesan chicken, very good, and huge portion. I had Keshi yena...whic was my first time trying this dish...not my favorite! Of course we all had pink iguanas to toast our first meal of our vacation!

the second time, hubby and I took the Mahi Mahi in a creole sauce...it was very good, and good sized portions as well. We shared a brownie for dessert, but found it to be dry. We always enjoy the casual atmosphere at I.J.

Okay, am I the only one who didn't get a Pink Iguana?? I had Grandma's Pink Lemonade instead.

We LOVE Iguana Joes!! We went there twice this time. Their Two-in-One Soup was amazing...both black bean soup and tortillia soup in one bowl. Brett had the nacho's and he couldn't finish the serving. I had the Keshi Jena and it was delicious!! With the soup as a starter, I had leftovers to take home. On our other visit I had the chicken taco salad which was also more than enough food and very tasty!!

Bought lots of t-shirts and that yummy hot sauce! Not sure if we got our friends hooked on any other restaurants, but I'm sure they liked Iguana Joe's!

I couldn't believe it - one of my favorite hangouts, and it was closed for renovations the whole week while I was there I was devastated! I hope the rest of you enjoy the new paint job or whatever else they did, since now I'll have to wait another year to enjoy the food and drink (and stock up on the hot sauce and t shirts). Boo hoo

We ate here on Sunday, October 8. It was fantastic! Husband had fish fajitas, I had an enchilada. Husband had a mojito and loved it. I had a Pink Iguana - very delicious! Service was great. Price altogether including service charge ranged around $50.

I was disappointed with the salsa....I was hoping it had a fresh/homemade taste.

A great place to get a bite to eat and a cold drink. We all had something different to eat. I had a burger. I think that someone had tapas, another had a salad and so on. Everyone was very pleased with the food and service. The only thing that bothered me was the annoying view of that " Condo Project "

Fun place to go. Food was average, drinks were good, atmosphere was great. We went there for the first time in September '05 and there was contruction across the street and over by Carlos and Charlie's. We went back in July '06 and the contruction was ongoing. This detracted from the view. We are going back in June '07. Hopefully the contruction is completed by then.

I believe I have pictures of the construction project I took in 1999 from our table while eating lunch at Iguana Joe's!!! I think it's slated to be complete in 2017.

Thumbs up Re: Iguana Joe's

My wife and I stopped at Iguana Joes after we had a bus tour of the island (we were on a Royal Caribbean cruise) and she had the ribs and I had the Keshi Jena and both were awesome! The pink Iguana can be addicting as well.

Does anyone know the recipe for the Keshi Jena? I would love to make it at home as I brought home a wheel of Gouda as well.
