Default Internet Access

Does the Phoenix have internet access? Is it a high-speed internet connection? If not, where is the closest place to go? Thank you. Juli

i just contacted them about internet access. according to one of their reps, they now have wifi in all public areas but she wasn't sure about the rooms. i know last august they were working on it since their service was dreadful and slow, lol.

i will be bringing my laptop with me and getting setar's wifi. once you have that you can sit anywhere that is wifi capable and use your laptop. this is the list of definite locations so far. btw, if you buy it by the week the cost is $35.

We were there in November & the WiFi was still sketchy. It was supposed to be available in the Tower lobby, pool area, & restaurant, but it was hit or miss. There was a wireless keyboard in the room which was supposed allow internet access using the TV (in the main area of a 1 bedroom). It seemed to be similar to what they use on cruise ships, but it wasn't working either. I wouldn't be surprised if it was only a battery issue, but it was easier and a lot let frustrating to just go to the internet cafe to check email & stay in touch with the family. One of the problems I see at the Phoenix is they don't have anyone (in November anyway) with any knowledge of the WiFi systems or their setup and usage. For the convenience, I'll gladly pay the higher price for internet access from my room to use whenever I have the time and inclination. I'm hoping it's up to speed when we get there this year.

Asked about this 2 weeks ago while staying there.
The Resort-Lynx keyboards are in the room but, basically, the in-unit internet access is not operational.
Asked about Wi-Fi as we'd brought the laptop and a Wi-Fi
card for it. Frontdesk told us that, currently, there was
no Wi-Fi at Phoenix but we could use it at Divi Village.
Asked about use of 123 SETAR - no go.
Asked about use of Ventaha card (had used it last visit
there 18 - 24 months ago) - told that resort had changed
telco & that Ventaha card use was now no go.
Got the impression that the current telco left something to be
desired and that, perhaps, a different provider might be selected
in the future.
The small room with the single computer for internet access is
still present.

Did note that unit we were in (101 - villas) was set up for dsl.
Bedroom extension phones had the dsl filters.
Living/dining room phone was connected to a Paradyne box
which was connected to phone line wall jack.

SETAR is promoting the Wi-Fi hotspots it has around the island.
There is a website wifi-aruba? wifi-setar? that identifies the
hotspots. They might be a working alternative.
